Legalise cannabis i say... its a totally natural product... nothing wrong with it if used sensibly.
unlike the other drugs like ice, e, cocaine, etc... which is un-natural and man made... weed is just harmless good fun...
i say smoke weed before a root - it'll enhance the experience... and maybe afterwards, a stiff drink to relax and chill out...

I'd be quite happy if cigarettes and alcohol were banned. But alas, both are accepted by most in society and generate too much money for the guvmint, and if either were deemed illegal they would be voted out. The negative impacts generated by both of these FAR outweigh any mediocre positives.
Imagine the ease of burden on our overstretched health system, the dramatic drop in alcohol related crimes - drink driving incidents, alcohol induced violence, and people using "being under the influence of alcohol" as an excuse in court and getting a lighter sentance. Yes alot of these people will commit these crimes anyway, but alcohol only fuels their problem and makes them much worse...
I cant provide a source, but I remember reading that the percentage of low income earners that smoke is extremely higher than those on middle and upper incomes. Imagine the money that these low income earners could save...
For those who say "why should the rest of us who drink responsibly/smoke occasionally suffer?" - well why should those who use marijuana, steroids, or any other illegal substance responsibly suffer? Many of these can be used safely too. If you cant enjoy eating breakfast/dinner, drinking tea, a night out, partying, or sex WITHOUT cigarettes and/or alcohol, well.... I'm not even going there as I'll offend people...
Surely most people here will have a loved one (friend or family) who has suffered due to smoking related illnesses... or alcohol related - victim in a drink driving accident, an alcoholic, been assaulted out on the town by someone drunk (or been in a drunken fight yourself).
Im sure there are many ppl on this forum who have had loved ones in similar situations. Is having a cigarette or drink really worth it, knowing the sufferring that each of these brings to society?
I know I'll probably get flamed for this post, but like GG, this is just my opinion...
Whilst I'm sure the theory of that sounds great to the clean living folk on the forum, the unfortunate reality is that if you banned booze and health sticks, people would just move on to something else. Or keep doing it illegally. The only thing that would be lost is tax revenue.
Y Alcohol kills more Australians every year than any other drug. This is because its readily available.
Smoking is dumb, you pay lots of money to kill yourself slowly. A no-brainer really.
But having said that, I am a reformed smoker. I haven't been a full time smoker for about 10 years now, though on the occasion do enjoy the odd smoke. Especially while having a single malt neat, a robust red or a smooth port with friends.
I will often go several months without a smoke, though other times may smoke on several occasions in the one month. It's purely situational and social (social mainly as I rarely buy them and usually bum them and if I ever buy a pack it is when I have at least one wobbly boot on and I always give away the pack before I go home).
So I have to agree GG there is the odd time for me when a durry definitely puts the icing on the cake.
