Hello,

I am new to online trading and have been lurking on this forum.
This is probably a stupid question but...

I was wondering where you go to get share price lists.
Let's say you are unsure about what shares to buy but think that you would like to buy lowish price shares- how do you find them?

Commsec and the ASX site do not seem to provide a simple listing of all current share prices for all trading companies.

thanks in advance.

Firstly, welcome to ASF.

Secondly, you should be buying on market cap, not share price.
Eg:
Co A has 1000 shares at $1. Mkt Cap = $1000
Co B has 1000000 at 1c. Mkt Cap = $1000

Same total company value, totally different share prices.

thanks for the QUICK response!

good point and something to think about.
as I said, new to it all and much reading to do before buying anything.

still, an online list of companies and market cap/share price/etc. would be useful. I guess, something like what you get in the newspapers.

cheers.

you can see the prices for the top 50 asx companies on the asx homepage...but if you want to see ASX200/300 you could make watchlists with all of them i suppose...

Your broker should have a list of shares you can buy/leverage through them.

So what do you look for in market cap to indicate a buy ?
