Hehehehe. Apparently, the ol' fox Gus Gould gets his player after all the carry on that they weren't interested. I'm not even a big fan of the Bulldogs but this is a different team to the last few years - if Galvin gels well, anything is possible for them this year. I mean they're all already on top of the ladder without the fella!

I hope that things settle down for him and he can just play footy for a year or two.

So many young players get screwed up with all the hype, they lose their way and end up struggling to handle the pressure.

Before too long their whole life is screwed up

You are right, I thought the NSW team selected was quite a balanced team and their game plan was good.

Laurie Daley surprised me with that, much better than the last 2 coaches IMO

The states run in cycles and right now I think NSW has the slightly better players, QLD could beat them if all goes well and NSW are flat or over confident.

I think NSW could dominate for perhaps 3 seasons until our stars get tired legs then QLD could rise again with some fresh players

DCE might be one to look at next year, Reece is missing, KP hardly saw the ball

I expected Latrelle to be fired up after missing last year, he is a freak at times and he played well, a better player than Best

Two more to go, not over yet
 
just watching the 3rd Women's SoO game on the tellie - channel 9, surely Qld can win one ???

The opening game of the 2025 State of Origin series was the most watched match in the history of the concept, entrenching rugby league the NRL as the No.1 sport in Australia.

State of Origin has delivered bumper ratings for the NRL after 3.755 million watched the game on a Channel 9 – significantly higher than last year entrenching the NRL as the no.1 sport in Australia.
It was also the highest watched program of the year with 38 per cent more viewers than the next highest watched program which was the ABC federal election coverage.

The ratings were up 11.2 per cent from Origin I last year with Wednesday’s clash at Suncorp Stadium the most watched Origin in history.

It was the highest rating Origin match since 2016 and the highest broadcast television result since game three 2019.

The match had a reach of 5.449 million people. It was the no.1 program in Sydney (1.073 million), Melbourne (316k), Perth (168k) and Brisbane (843k).

NRL boss Andrew Abdo said it was clear where rugby league stood in the Australian market.

“The State of Origin ratings result is the highest in almost a decade, cementing rugby league’s position as the number one sport in Australia and the Pacific,” Abdo said.

“State of Origin was the number one show of the year so far, winning in every demographic and dominating in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth, as well as delivering a record streaming audience.

“A sellout at Suncorp stadium provided an intense atmosphere which could be felt by fans watching all over the country.


“Rugby League broke numerous records in 2024 and the results are even stronger in 2025.

“The players are phenomenal athletes and the football has been unpredictable and enthralling all season. It is no surprise that fans are responding so positively.”

In Adelaide it was the second most watched program of the night with 92k people.

For 9Now the match was also the highest streamed event on the channel smashing the previous record by 11 per cent. The Origin was also the second-highest rating streamed program of all-time in Australia.

A sold out Suncorp Stadium crowd of 52,483 people watched NSW beat Queensland 18-6. The next match in Perth is expected to also be a sell-out with about 60,000 people expected to attend Optus Stadium.

There were also more than a million Google searches for Origin in the 24 hours surrounding the game.

I don't really like rugby. Only sport other than golf where I find watching women to be of the same entertainment value as watching men.
 
So then the Broncos copped a real hammering... the cracks are turning into craters... got some work to do between the ears... As stated previously not sure Madge got what it takes to pull a rabbit outta a hat. Anyways we will soon see... But they got real problems.

It’s official. Daly Cherry-Evans has been axed as Queensland’s halfback and captain for Origin II and Tom Dearden crowned as the Qld halfback ... Slater has yet to anoint a skipper for the squad but leading contenders include Tino Fa’asuamaleaui, Harry Grant and reformed Storm and Maroons champion Cameron Munster.
