Would it be worthwhile to have a list of definitions of commonly used words, that newbies like me, may not have come across, somewhere ? (more work for someone!)

Also, is it possible to get a spelling checker in the message box (even more work)?

Not sure if this helps but I just do a google search and that normally clears it up quick. I have a small booklet on mining terms and it helps me to understand mining reports- just enough to know what they say anyhow. Lots of general investor's dictionaries around as well. Or you can just search these forums for the word and you'll be able to figure it out. Hope this helps.

Some times I wonder if its worth getting a qualification in geology. In the mean time, I've found buying a geologist buddy of mine a beer every once in a while is a worthwhile investment.

Does anyone have any decent online references to aid with the impretation of geological announcements?

doctorj,

Have you tried the how stuff works website?

http://www.howstuffworks.com/index.htm

Haven't serched for mining, but the oil exploration/drilling section (found it through a link from the BPT website) gave a very good, simple explanaion of all the equipment, terms and processes involved.

Good luck and if you find a good online source, please post

Hi Dutchie!

Firstly, welcome to Aussie Stock Forums!

I don't have a glossary of stock market terminology on Aussie Stock Forums yet, but I found this site called Finance Glossary that you may find useful:

Regarding the spellchecker, I don't think there's one available for this forum software yet but I'll have another look to be sure. Anyway, you seem like quite a good speller... I haven't had any trouble understanding your posts so far!

Hope you enjoy the site!

Cheers!
Joe

G'day Joe

Thanks for the welcome.

I have been enjoying this forum for a few months now.
I am impressed with the quality of the site and the openness of forum members.
Like my father always said - "you should never stop learning".

As for the spelling I thought it might help those people who can't spell a word and put *** etc for missing letters - LOL

Thanks for the site reference - very comprehensive.

Quiz for the day (without looking it up!!)

What is the "weekend effect" ??
