Question about this Forum

Hi all,
First time poster, long time reader.
After reading up on many current and past threads I've noticed quite a few of the old threads directly (or as blatantly/obviously as possible) ask for "advice" as to whether to buy/sell a share/asset.
My question is, was the "No advice can be given/requested" rule a new rule created in light of the GFC? Or have some threads just been quite "lucky" to avoid being deleted/closed on this basis?

Just curious...

Occasionally people do ask whether or not they should buy or sell a particular stock. If the moderators or I see this happen, or are made aware of it, we will remind the person asking that it is not permitted for other ASF members to provide this kind of specific advice. Generally this is done in the thread the request was made in, but occasionally it is also done by private message.

It is also possible for the occasional request to slip by us, as we are unable to review every post in every thread. However, most ASF members are aware that providing this kind of advice to others is not permitted, so requests of this nature are rarely, if ever, answered with a "yes" or "no".

If you notice any ASF member asking for, or offering, what you feel to be specific financial advice, please bring it to the attention of the moderators and myself by clicking the Report Post icon you will see at the bottom of each post.

How about looking into how the insto funds manipulate the small end of the market, and doing something about it?!!

What do you mean?
Like eg spuriking on forums?

I can't imagine they'd do that quake. But they do take over and dominate the market depth of small cap stocks at times, which allows them to set the price absolutely wherever they want it. Run it up, push it down, stop volume....anything!
