Re: North Korea nuclear tests & the gold price

:( I am starting to have my doubts... Did they really blow a nuke... South Korean sources allege it was 550 Ton Equiv yeild (0.55Kt)... I am no expert (only a lay person) but there are tactical nuclear weapons (artillery, AAMs, etc) with higher yields - and i am sure this thing is not exactly small in dimensions compared to an artillery shell or an air to air missile warhead... it's scary if they have done it for sure - but i think there's a lot of dots that need to be connected before we start seeing 4 horsemen... Misinformation is the name of the "DPRK Govt." (So many oxymorons there that my head spins) - esp. for internal use... who knows what the real motives are - could it be to quell internal dissent??? who knows... I'm in Japan (probably the worst place) - but i am holding off on this until we know the score...

Clearly the gold market has taken this view as well - $7-8 rise... nothing doing...

Screw NK having the bomb - their military has been one of the biggest and most fanatical in the world for years (and only 75ks north of Seoul) and no-one batted an eyelid... It's conventional forces for mine are FAR more frightenining than a crude nuke that in any event (most likely) is not deliverable...

EDIT - There seems to be some dispute as to the size Russian sources allege 5-15Kt...

The Comex pits have been open an hour and not a lot of interest really.

It's a storm in a teacup folks. :2twocents

So it seems its not too late to get into gold, dont forget its not just the NK nuke issue, all the other crap going on in the world should help the Gold price too, and all it will take is another Al Qaeda issue / bombing whatever (they are averaging 1 a year about right?) or Israel/Hamas/Palestine war. If I had to take a stand I would think Gold could easily hit $700 again in a short time frame.

Gold has certainly had an interesting ride. I do think it will move up and when it does I think it will go for a steep rise. I think it will be over the $700 mark before christmas.

l still remember when gold was hitting the $728Us mark that everyone was saying that it was going to $1000US before the years end. How times have changed in a few months, it's struggling to get above $600US/ounce even AFTER the nuke test.
