Any suggestions please.
Built a boat, sold the house, sailed away, but still play the stockmarket (silly me!).

Need to have a residential address for banks, shares, etc. Have been using Mum's, but she is now off to a nursing home. Have minimised mail thro' electronic means but still HAVE to have a residential address.

In some countries eg NZ, UK, can "rent a street address" eg see "Private Box".

Any one know of a solution? Is the above illegal in Oz?

Many thanks:

Serviced office companies like ServCorp

I think have facilities for mailing address only.
There are plenty of others like them if one doesnt suit.

Here's another -

You want your calls answered professionally
You want a 'more business-like' phone number
You want your business to sound and appear more professional
You are in the process of setting up your business
You work from home
You want to minimise your overhead costs
You want a 'more business-like' address
You spend a lot of your time on the road
Your interstate or international head office requires a local presence

Any suggestions please.

As long as you pay your capital gains tax I don't think it is illegal to have a postal address only. Maybe a marina in Oz is willing to help you? Unless you've sailed away to the other side of the world of course...

If you have a portfolio with a few bob in it couldn't you just put down your accountant's or broker's address?

cheers.

i seem to recall the Post Office require you to have a residential address, before they will open a PO Box, I believe it is some part of their legal requirment.

they post yr details to that first.

maybe you could use yr dear old mums nursing home address to get a PO box.

Mr Burns idea seemed good, but may cost more

Until very recently all my share trading, banking etc went through a PO box with no hassles.

The only hassle I'm having now is getting the bank to stop sending my credit card statements there and send them to my residential address. I've told them 5 times what my new address is and each time been assured that the computer has been updated. This has been going on for just under 12 months now.

But so far no success, to the point that they even ended up sending statements for a recently opened account to that address which should never have happened. I'll be writing a letter telling them I won't make any more payments until statements are received. Then I'll simply throw anything still sent to the PO box in the bin and see what happens.

Thanks very much for the replies.

Thought a PO Box number was unacceptable for either share trading or Banks but not sure which, ie had to give a residential address. Will re-investigate.

Yachty,
I have used the virtual office solution for a while now for both business and personal, and have not had any problems with banks, brokers or the gov depts.

This I think is the best option, they will forward your mail, some may even scan it so you can read it online, the guys I use will even pay bills for me.

Have a look into it, it does not cost as much as you may think.
