Hello

what are the rules relating to shorting listed shares?
uptick rules?
can shares be sold on a downtick?

do shares need to be borrowed/located first?

can any share be shorted? or are there restrictions based on liquidity/share price/ share type warrant/right?

There's no uptick rule.

You must have borrow in place - naked shorts are not allowed.

Any shares you have borrow on can be shorted as far as I know.

Not sure if you are aware that warrants have a slightly different meaning in the aus mkt.
They are options issued by marketmaking banks and generally trade at a prem to the equivalent option on a stock.
You can buy them, but not short.
