It's a bit of a fizzer so far. I cancelled all my appointments today expecting the promised Apocalyptic storm. I will be a bit miffed if utter devastation doesn't happen. </hyperbole>Having disconnected the TV arial, Landline phone and the laptop connection in advance due to an impending storm(s) that are forecast for Tuesday morning and into the day.
40-60 mm possible with 100km hour wind and a thunderstorm or two just to make it interesting.
Have to take this BOM forecast seriously as they have actually got it right the last few times.
Getting plenty of Severe Weather Warning updates on the Mobile phone this afternoon and evening.
Generators are fueled up, and ready to go if the need arises.
@wayneL It's about to happen shortly Wayne. It's a bit of a fizzer so far. I cancelled all my appointments today expecting the promised Apocalyptic storm. I will be a bit miffed if utter devastation doesn't happen. </hyperbole>
I made a few contour banks to prevent erosion (hand done with a shovel, blood, sweat and tears, so no idea if they worked). With quite heavy precipitation so far this morning the usual lakes have formed in one paddock and flooding the entrance to the machinery shed.
We have never had it so bad in the shed area before, which now means a sizeable load of Ferocrete has to be brought in the rectify the problem, later in the year, though.
Tomorrow's forecast is about the same as today's.I made a few contour banks to prevent erosion (hand done with a shovel, blood, sweat and tears, so no idea if they worked).
I will probably defer looking till tomorrow
Bring it on, we need an above average year.Tomorrow's forecast is about the same as today's.
Looks to be a wet week coming.
The August average has been cracked. About 12mm was needed, so it is looking good.Bring it on, we need an above average year.
I haven't been out to check the rain gauge, but the phone rainfall is showing 22mm from 9am.Bring it on, we need an above average year.
We had a massive downpour earlier which felt like about 20 to 25mm just in it's own.I haven't been out to check the rain gauge, but the phone rainfall is showing 22mm from 9am.
Now that the pool is overflowing the brick paved area at the back of the abode is starting to get a serious water level on it.We had a massive downpour earlier which felt like about 20 to 25mm just in it's own.
Might be bit of a break coming before the next lot of downpours. Now that the pool is overflowing the brick paved area at the back of the abode is starting to get a serious water level on it.
Fortunately it does drain away pretty quickly.
Nearly 40mm at 9:45 and hitting the sack, and it's still quite heavy ATM.Just checked the rain gauge. What seemed like a huge amount of rain, the gauge only had 16.5 mm in it.
A bit weird as what is shown on the BOM site is 24.6mm.
Same for us also, with apparently a lot more to come.Nearly 40mm at 9:45 and hitting the sack, and it's still quite heavy ATM.
I'm not even game to try and get across half of the Red Hill Farm as most of the ground is clay based gravel mix.
