It's Raining

Having disconnected the TV arial, Landline phone and the laptop connection in advance due to an impending storm(s) that are forecast for Tuesday morning and into the day.
40-60 mm possible with 100km hour wind and a thunderstorm or two just to make it interesting.
Have to take this BOM forecast seriously as they have actually got it right the last few times.
Getting plenty of Severe Weather Warning updates on the Mobile phone this afternoon and evening.
Generators are fueled up, and ready to go if the need arises.

It's a bit of a fizzer so far. I cancelled all my appointments today expecting the promised Apocalyptic storm. I will be a bit miffed if utter devastation doesn't happen. </hyperbole>

@wayneL It's about to happen shortly Wayne.
Looking towards Parkerville one could think it might be snow coming its that black.

With quite heavy precipitation so far this morning the usual lakes have formed in one paddock and flooding the entrance to the machinery shed.
We have never had it so bad in the shed area before, which now means a sizeable load of Ferocrete has to be brought in the rectify the problem, later in the year, though.

I made a few contour banks to prevent erosion (hand done with a shovel, blood, sweat and tears, so no idea if they worked).

I will probably defer looking till tomorrow

Tomorrow's forecast is about the same as today's.
Looks to be a wet week coming.

We had a massive downpour earlier which felt like about 20 to 25mm just in it's own.
Now that the pool is overflowing the brick paved area at the back of the abode is starting to get a serious water level on it.
Fortunately it does drain away pretty quickly.

Might be bit of a break coming before the next lot of downpours.
This recent rain should get the Avon flowing strongly into the Swan/
Be interesting to see if the usual flooding occurs around the back of Midland Brick as has been the case over many years, but not recently.

Just checked the rain gauge. What seemed like a huge amount of rain, the gauge only had 16.5 mm in it.
A bit weird as what is shown on the BOM site is 24.6mm.

Nearly 40mm at 9:45 and hitting the sack, and it's still quite heavy ATM.

Though the precipitation has ceased temporarily, the Magies seem to think it is over, as they are warbling away in the gum trees nearby.

absolutely sodden on the east coast,.... but the bits in the middle seem to be missing out ... gonna blame that Negative Indian Ocean Dipole.

Sydney has had 3 times the usual August precipitation, over 220mm, and that's only 19 days in. But its coastal showers, and even 50km inland not much has been received

EDIT ... I'll amend that. mainly central coastal NSW getting the rain
Month to date:

We had 50mm in the last 24hours, a fair bit for Perf...

... and, well, 5hit!
