As a relatively new person to the site and to the stock market I thought it would be interesting to know what amount of money people have to invest in the stock market.
I thought by doing it by a poll, it would allow people to be anonymous and honest.

We do seem to have a good spread of investors. Thanks all for your imput.

100% is all the money I have

What did you think I was talking about? Fat Free!

i am 50/50 real estate (my own home) to shares...
got a fair bit in the market at the moment

and probably 60% of the house and 40% of the shares are funded by debt!

In super some $900k is in the share market (with AGEST not SMSF). Outside super over 400k at 20% gearing. Ready cash at bank at a level to be comfortable and meet on-going debts.

Lord that's some gearing you have Rafa - margin lending/personal loan/other loans/plastic fantastic for the shares just out of interest?

I am 1/3 shares, 2/3 property. And 1/3 debt overall. ie. using the low interest property mortgage to invest in shares. If I sold all the shares I'd have nothing but property.

no, just margin loan for shares...
i plan to reduce this in the not too distant future...

interestingly, i almost had zero margin lend going back a month (as my portfolio was in speccies / cash)... but the crash in March made some of the margin loan suitable stocks look better value so i now have a margin loan once again!
