Hello everyone.

I have a little bit of a story to tell. A couple of weeks ago an engineer friend of mine rang me (he's working for woodside, clued on fellow). During our discussion he mentioned that his boss dragged him along to a seminar (I wont mention the company/system). Yeah my old scam injury became inflamed right away and I had to sit down.

He said his boss was reaping 6% per month and he explained to me the in's and out's of the system. It sounded half viable so I decided to do some research. I found HEAPS of positive blogs and comments on the system. I also found a couple of other companies with similar systems. All of them talking about different strategies and things to use.

That's when I stumbled across this forum. I found two threads on the company and it was great to see one of the admins here taking apart an obvious spammer posing as a customer. I was almost willing to invest my hard earned $$ in this system. My main aim was to use it to learn how to trade and then ween myself off it. However, because of their spamming efforts its quite obvious they are not really that sincere.

Quite obviously everyone on this forum is going to tell me the same thing. Get some books, read the internet, educate yourself. I can respect that, and trust me that's what I am trying to do. If I was not doing that I would have shelled out around 6k already.

Its so hard to find clear, concise information. Especially for a beginner. I've had a flick through the beginners forum but even some of the well presented information has me thinking in circles (I'll be the first to admit I aint all that bright).

So my first step in trying to secure my future and invest wisely is to register here. Introduce myself and hopefully learn a thing or two of you guys.

I'm in quite a well paying job and think I am going okay in life at the moment (got two houses which I am paying the bank for). I just think I could get my money working harder for me. Maybe get rid of some toys and invest in the future.

So I just wanted to say thanks for leaving the thread up that let me see what was going on.

Cheers

Re: From a newbie, thankyou.

Hello everyone.
...

Reason for circles within this forum is the resultant of various different styles of trading and the success or otherwise of each.
You're on the internet. Don't believe everthing you read!

Dovetail what you learn with what you know.
Create a style that suits you.

I wish you success!

Burglar, are you saying we can't believe everything you say on the internet?...

It doesn't take too long to work out who is consistent with their postings and who is not. I guess you would be just as untrusting when talking face to face?...

That's the point, Sails:
You're on the Internet. You're NOT talking to the other person face to face.

You may get a feeling for somebody's trustworthiness (or otherwise) if you've read the majority of a particular person's plethora of posts. But even then is it possible that someone you've learned to take seriously is mistaken when they post an opinion about a particular trading system/ seminar/ "Next Big Thing".

Thank you burglar, and pixel

I guess what I should be doing is reading as many opinions and experiences as possible and as you say, dovetail that with what I know and my own instinct. I was thinking of seeing a financial adviser at some stage. I really am as the name suggests, very green. I'm just at a stage in my life now that I have started thinking about my future.

I am not sure what the general opinion is on financial advisers. I am guessing you guys are probably at the stage where you figure things out yourself. Maybe its best to see a few advisers and get a general feel? I would hate to be "sold" a product that under performs.

Anyway, I probably wont post much here as I am by no means qualified to offer advice or opinions. I will remain a silent stalker until I have something to contribute

Most financial advisors are working like crazy to get into the
Financial position many of their clients are!
I know 5 financial" advisors"
One has real wealth--- from property.
Sir O who posts here seems to be in the minority.

Trading profitably is simple
You need to have either
More wins than aggregate losses
Or
More profits than aggregate losses.

Learn how to do that---
But if you want real wealth for the rest of your days
Learn how to generate passive income.

It's worth the sizable effort.

Verygreen, welcome and thank you for telling us that you've already found some value on the site.

Have a look at this thread on financial advisers:
https://www.aussiestockforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21047

There are various others, but my Search hasn't turned them up.
Someone else might recall the names of some of the threads dealing with financial advisers. Certainly, we've discussed the subject at length.

You might like to have a look at the now very lengthy Storm Financial thread.
This will give you an example of how one advisory firm gave completely inappropriate advice which was unfortunately accepted without question by some of their clients.

Don't be shy ... it results in silence!

Let us know how you're getting on!

Are you referring to non-trading avenues of passive income? Eg?
