With total bans of everything in place today I thought it would be appropiate to send warm gushing wishes to all at ASF, even to the Good Cap't.
On reflection I though it might be prudent to seek counsel's advice on the appropiate wording.
I wanted to send some sort of holiday greetings to all and sundry, but it can be difficult in today's world to know exactly what to say without offending anyone.
So on counsel's advice the following is:
Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non addictive, gender neutral celebration of the summer solstice holiday practised with the most enjoyable traditions of religious persuasion or secular practices of your choice with respect for th religious/secular persuassions and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all.
Also, I wish you a fiscally successful, personally full-filling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2024, but not without due respect for the calendar of choice of other culters whose contributions to society have helped make our country great (not to imply that Australia is necessarily greater than any other country) and without regard to the race, creed, colour, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee. By accepting this Greeting, you are accepting these terms. This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for him/her or others and is void where prohibited by law, and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher.
This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of good tidings for a period of one (1) year or until the issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wisher.
Best Regards (without prejudice)
Just good piece of nonsense that I came across awhile ago, and thought this just might liven up some at this time of the year.I'm sure JC is looking down and appreciative of your thoughts Farmer.
It's pretty funny. I normally quote a version of that every year but you got in before me.Just good piece of nonsense that I came across awhile ago, and thought this just might liven up some at this time of the year.
I diliberately did not leave anyone out of this good will message !!!!!
This is the first one I have ever seen. Can't remember who sent or gave it to me, but had me laughing for awhile. It's pretty funny. I normally quote a version of that every year but you got in before me.
Quick point, Christmas isn't really about Santa Claus, nor Easter about rabbitsNew age truth telling at its best.
This is the correct way, be truthful with the kids, tell them the truth Christmas is BS.
Mum-of-three refuses to celebrate Christmas: 'Gives me the creeps'
The woman said she also told her children Santa is not real because it felt wrong to lie to them. Do you agree?au.news.yahoo.com
I wonder if it was sponsored by the business sector, maybe if Christmas falls on a Tuesday she goes to work and on boxing day.
When you think about it, Easter and the bunny is BS too, so why have a holiday, really should we have public holidays at all.
Could be a new candidate for the Teals, or maybe a spot in the ABC.
Just a few observations as we gallop down the home straight into Christmas 2023:
Quite obviously I am a Christian and I really don't care what anybody else thinks about that
Quick point, Christmas isn't really about Santa Claus, nor Easter about rabbits
(And I get your point, nevertheless)
Most serious scholars are skeptical about that too FWIW, as am I. It is not mentioned in the earliest writings and it is only developed later, even after Paul had lived and died.Oh, virgin births are much less straining of credulity
And thank you Joe for keeping this forum a "safe" place for discussion, and may your Christmas be a happy one.Merry Christmas everyone! Thank you for continuing to visit and post and keeping the ASF community alive.
I wish everyone an enjoyable Christmas break and a happy and prosperous 2024!
Best wishes to you all!
@farmerge I'd buy the option on the warm gushing wish instead of actually making it, that way you have limited risk. With total bans of everything in place today I thought it would be appropiate to send warm gushing wishes to all at ASF, even to the Good Cap't.
