Bio-Gene is an Australian biotechnology company that is developing a patent protected product platform as a new class of insecticides. The insecticidal activity of this β-triketone chemical class was first discovered following a botanical screening program looking to identify natural product based insecticides in Australian flora.

Beta-triketone compounds have demonstrated insecticidal activity (eg kill or knock down insects) via a novel mode of action in testing performed to date. This platform may provide multiple potential new solutions for insecticide manufacturers in applications across animal health and crop protection, as well as in public health, and in consumer applications.

The Company's aim is to develop and commercialise a broad portfolio of targeted insect control management solutions.

It is anticipated that BGT will list on the ASX during November 2017.

Bio-Gene Technology has struggled since listing in late November last year. However, things got worse today after they announced that French animal health company Virbac, who they entered into an evaluation agreement with in June 2017 to explore the use of Bio-Gene's Flavocide™ technology in potential applications for tick and buffalo fly control in cattle, has indicated that they are unlikely to proceed with developing products using the formulation.

A big blow for the company and the market reacted accordingly, knocking BGT down 5c to 12c, a loss of 29.41% today.

seemingly moving to bugs and mozzies.........had a very encouraging data set recently regarding low toxicity in bees...so might have some legs. Ann today about expanding studies........If it comes together the bee news is the kicker...time will tell.
 
Bio-Gene Technology on the mend in the last few days following the release of a "Company Update Presentation - October 2018" on Monday. Today it was up 25% to finish the day at 17.5c. Volume was well above average.

The presentation was upbeat with talk of partnerships and with very clear objectives. BGT could have a lot more upside if the presentation is anything to go by. One to watch IMO.

Broke out a few days ago and I missed buying it. Bought on open today and it is going on with it on a down day. Might be a real short term one if the momentum changes.

This should pop this year. New mode of action is a very compelling reason to hold. Deals to progress in place with BASF to come. Great year ahead
 
I'm taking BGT in the March tipping comp. Don't know a ton about the company other than they are working on insecticides and studying the health implications of that. I'm picking it based on new highs and some increased volume of late.

Bio-Gene Technology (ASX:BGT) is developing novel insecticides from natural compounds, as rejoinder to the Chemical Charlies who spray their land with far too much of the hydrocarbon-based stuff.

Bio-gene aims to file its application approval for Flavocide’s active ingredient with the local gatekeeper by the end of 2025.
 
I think BGT is a good pick for the February 2025 tipping comp. The company Bio-Gene has been Awarded U.S. Department of Defence Grants Totalling A$3.0m
