Hi my name is Brendon i am very new at this and have no idea what I'm doing
I'm hoping to pick up some knowledge and learn as i go, i would appreciate any help and pointers.
Thank you in advance

Welcome Brendon.

Even though you are new to this I suspect you may have some idea of what you want to do.
The obvious likely answer of course is make money but there are a few hurdles before that.

Have an idea of what you want to know and do and make full use of the search function.

I have a 1 year old son and we put money away every month.
We are looking to create him some money for his future to start with.
Something long term with reasonable profits that we can add to each year and reinvest his profits in.
For example we have $3100.00 and plan to add at least the same every year on top of what his investments generate.

Obviously nobody on here can give advice but if you give it a bit of time there are a number of valuable contributors on here who will probably hint at a few ideas for consideration.

Thank you Boggo i appreciate you taking the time to reply.
I am in no hurry and i am motivated to gain as much knowledge as i can.
Good luck and good wealth

With $3000 to invest per year you won't want to buy shares in lots of different companies at first, as your money will get eaten up in brokerage fees for each purchase. But you do want some diversification, its not a good idea to put all your money in just one or two stocks. I'd do some research into Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) and Listed Investment Companies (LICs). If you're planning to put the money away for your son on a regular basis, you may also want to take a look at Investment Bonds which can be tax effective for kids investments - not sure what the minimum amount to invest in these is though. Good luck with your research!

Cheers (swingtrader) Gary I'm a little daunted at the moment but that's just the fear of the unknown and time and knowledge will erase those feelings.
