I think it would be great if the Bathurst 1000 got back to its roots.
Now that there isn't local car manufacturer and we are on the cusp of a change over from ICE cars to E.V's both battery and hydrogen fuel cell, I think it is a great opportunity for the organisers to wind it back to the days of all categories being on the grid.
Obviously there would have to be number limits, but the good old days of normal road cars that are only allowed to be modified for safety reasons, are endurance racing and it is a reflection of the vehicles that people can buy.
When the slower 2litre cars would pull to the side to let the V8's go through.
I think having the E.V's out there with the ICE cars, would give an actual indication of the progress that is being achieved, the BEV's may not get the distance but they will be competitive until the batteries need recharging, but that doesn't matter the 2.0L weren't competitive against the GT Falcons and Monaros, it didn't matter it was still entertaining. Also it would give the H2 E.V's some airplay as they would not have the distance issues, I think it would be thoroughly entertaining and move public perception a lot more than Govt rules and media advertising ever will.:2twocents

Peter Williamson from memory was the first driver to have a camera put in his car and set the trend for todays coverage, an absolute gentleman and legend from the past. As a young bloke in W.A I thought the technology was amazing and took Bathurst to a whole new level. Love it at the 3m 20sec point, "I've got Brock coming up behind me", LOl a 308V8 against a 2L 4cyl.

I agree. The current formula is boring and bears no relationship to cars you can drive on the road.

Bring back the classes and some more manufacturers. Cooper S's used to be as fast as the V8's through the bends and that made for some interesting watching. I don't think our formula is used anywhere else in the world which makes it pretty irrelevant.

The craziest race in the world according to drivers from OS who came here to try it out.

I used to be involved behind the scenes and one famous yank wanted to go back home after his first practice session.

A bit different to the flat, well protected circuits he was used to.
