I just want to make sure ARG is earning its fee;
if it can not historically match the index, why bother

well, it has the potential to exceed the index, which a vanilla ETF doesn't.

Indeed, and bought so i think worthwhile especially with NTA discount
Only regret is why buying yesterday and not today..but in the scale of things

When it comes to regret it's a feeling I have known well. I should mention ARG uses as its benchmark the ASX200 Accumulation Index not the S&P Global ASX 200/300 as per index funds. Investors obviously need to make their decisions in regard to which index they want to use.

True. Unfortunately it can only be used in respect of dividends unlike ETF's where the CG (as per the annual AMIT statement) can offset any carried forward losses. And 50% of the CG is taxed at marginal rates.

Yes. Readily available cash is around that figure at present.

Interim fully franked dividend payable 14 March 2025 17.0 cents (pcp 16.5 cents f.f.)

The Company’s Dividend Reinvestment Plan and Dividend Substitution Share Plan will operate for the interim dividend. The DRP and DSSP will be neutralised by purchasing the shares required for participants on-market. The Directors have resolved that the shares will be allocated at the market price of Argo shares, which will be the volume weighted average ex-dividend market price of the shares traded during the pricing period from 10 February 2025 to 14 March 2025. No discount will apply.

In calendar year 2024, Argo gained +11.7% as measured by the NTA return after all costs and adjusted for company tax paid, outperforming the S&P/ASX 200 Accumulation Index which increased +11.4% (with no allowance for any costs).

Over the six months to 31 December 2024, Argo returned +6.3%, slightly trailing the Index which rose +6.9%.
