There are many here who have experience in a number of areas who are glad to help out.Even if the area of expertise ISNT to do with anything on wealth creation---never know when you could do with some advice or a contact!!-----Computers and programming as an example,Travel agent as another---(I need your number!!).

Thought it would be benificial to find out what people want or need to know(More so in the wealth creation field than general) and those who have experience(and some maybe remaining silent) to make it known---a register of some sort.

Joe you may consider running a survey where people vote on topics suggested.

So I'll kick things off.

Wants.
(1) Id like to know more about options and their use particularly selling index options.------spread trading options.
(2) Short term trading I find fascinating and have done a great deal----yet to find a profitable short term method.
(3) Forex.

Expertise.
(1) Technical analysis.
(2) Systems testing and developement.
(3) Risk and money management.
(4) Metastock and Tradesim.
(5) Longer term trading methodologies.
(6) Techtrader---(System I designed and is being traded on the net for the last 3 yrs ---live,----Many use it).

Off topic but still wealth creation.
(1) Realestate.
(2) Property Developement.
(3) Business---particularly growth in Small business.


I actually started with nothing and still have most of it left!!
 
Topic I would be interested in: Indicators

There are lots of indicators out there.

I would be interested in peoples experiences in regard to what indicators are best for different shares/options/ falling/ rising etc.

Do they use different indicators for entry and exit etc.
 
Hey Tech/a, what does your business do?

Have you ever considered writing a book about trading? Or is the market too saturated on finance books?

My business is in Civil Construction we specialise in Retaining Wall Construction.When in Adelaide if you know the Crafers and Southern Expressways they are samples of what we do.

Tech, I'm sure this thread will come good in time. People just need to find it first.

Like you, I would like to know more about options. I find derivatives fascinating but am a bit too intimidated by my lack of knowledge to dip my toes into the water. I'm finding a lot of threads in the derivatives forum useful but sometimes find a bit of the jargon confusing.
 


Wants: All of the above

Expertise: Forensic accounting, (some) contract litigation, Fraud investigation, company administrations, liquidations, and business in general.

Currently am an options trader with strengths in short term/discretionary, directional trading, intraday patterns, entries/exits and am very passionate about trading.

Current weaknesses are; am still a beginner (7 months full time) and am still learning, money management, greed, good food and a good drink. Oh, and under capitalised for the time being.

I would also like to start a business in maybe financial services/investing. I have been trained to write commercial loans as a commercial broker but am currently devoting all my time to trading. I intend to move into forex and index futures trading after becoming more proficient in technical and fundamental analysis. I am also interested in property and am aiming to acquire some in the next few years when prices go down.

This is a short answer as I'm still not clear on the answers but firstly,

I too am interested in options, especially index options atm, have traded them via Comsec protrader (one options trade per quarter and it's free, or x number of trades). Not making much $$! They will be upgrading protrader next week- charting is a bit weak but otherwise fine for me, very happy (for the price!). Tech, if you decide to apply for Commsec Protrader/options get in touch with me (if you need to) as some of the customer service staff don't know what what they are talking about- I had to explain their own terms to them- some of the people at their call centres are clueless.

I used to use warrants but they don't give as much flexibility as options and the market makers can be very tricky.
Try the free options course in the Derivatives thread, I can email you some files I have on options education that I've downloaded (over many confusing hours) off the web. Also try the www.ASX.com.au website for free courses and info (on Index options too). There must be lots more buried in these forums, try the search tool.
I find that I need a different money mgmt strategy for options compared to my normal strategy in terms of placing stops, my bets are much smaller than in normal stock, first position was a few hundred dollars and I think even that was too much as I don't really know what I'm doing yet. Nothing like losing money to focus the mind, you can only go so far papertrading. I like Guy Bowers book on options and the ASX site and book which came out last year. Unlike stocks I don't know how to 'value' an option yet, still learning. Those payoff diagrammes can be confusing. I don't write options.

I still need to know about the ideal money mgmt strategy for me, taking a bit of a break atm to get myself in order and to understand the maths and myself.

I'm interested in Charting as a risk reduction tool, I don't think it's an end in itself and don't have proper training in fundamentals to contribute an 'expert' analysis.

I have a soft spot for resources stocks and follow metals and oil and have a general interest in commodities (still very green but learning all the time).
 
I'm a jack of all trades and master of not very much.

If anyone has any tough questions regarding the latest FIBA interpretations of the rules of basketball, questions on the development of officials or any other basketball related things, I'm you're man.

For everything else, you should completely discount everything I say and listen to someone else.

Like the others, I am currently interested in Options and bought the CD and notes of the ASX course in it. Interested in Warrants and installments as well as Fundamental and Technical Analysis (though I lean more to T/A).

Expertise: Qualified Primary & Secondary Teacher. Currently teach High School: Years 11 & 12 Business Studies. I also have Post Graduate Diploma in Religious Education and a Masters degree in Administration. I've published material on Organisational Communication and on Change Management. I have an interest in Chaos theory and complexity and the application of complexity and physics to organisations. I'm an Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management. I've always maintained an interest in Accounting and Finance (but am not an accountant or adviser!). I have a double major in my undergraduate studies in Anthropology/Sociology and Curriculum.

 
my area of expertise is rural property (as well as cows and horses HAHAHA). any questions you have i would be happy to answer if i can.

my area of interest is shares atm, i also like options and warrants but theyre a bit intimidating at this stage. i'm only a newbie so any info is good. currently testing systems (darvas & MMA) so any tips on what works under what market conditions would be good. i don't expect anyone to show their best hand but a steer in the right direction would be good. :iamwithst

Energy is my area of greatest knowledge so feel free to ask. I don't generally keep up with all the company-specific stuff especially the oil/gas junior explorers but I do my own modelling of future worldwide oil production (long term output forecast over 15 years). Also am running a simplified model of the Tasmanian electricity system and how it will interact with the mainland once Basslink is commissioned. Main knowledge is power stations (fossil fuel and hydro, some knowledge of wind and nuclear economics. Have my own production cost database for most Australian power stations.), oil production at a national and international scale, reserves etc. Gas reserves, production, processing etc. Oil shale, tar sands, natural bitumen and associated upgrading etc. Other areas of knowledge are centralised road traffic control and hands on electrical wiring work. Also a reasonable understanding of some industrial processes mainly pulp/paper and zinc. Lesser knowledge of aluminium and ferro alloy production. Been down a mine or two too. Have some economic and market knowledge too but not T/A.

Also household and small commercial energy systems, air conditioning, heating, hot water, lighting etc. Direct electric, heat pumps, solar, gas, oil etc.

I'm happy to answer questions (sometimes might take a day or two to respond due to time constraints) but there are some specifics that I can't share for various commercial reasons.

I would like to offer but because I'm only a directional trader and I don't really look at doing anything else but buying straight out calls and puts, I don't do spreads. I only concentrate on trying to understand the dynamics of price movement because it is much more profitable for me than a system with no risks. The advantage's mean that I can ride waves up and down and squeeze more profits out of it (rather than wait for things to eventuate) and can use much less capital.

Ahh nice to hear from the rest of the Monkeys in the jungle!

Think its great that there is a diversity in the way people trade and what works for them.
Examples are always great for those of us who want to see working examples.

How you quantify it and the trade itself.

Im also interested in you Straight option trading method --what you look for and how you trade it---from selection to position sizing through to application and resultant action wether it goes for or against you.
