i just wanted to find out a few things about a stop loss.
Say a stock closed at $20
You have a stop loss at $19
Howver if the stock opens at $18, does the stop loss make you sell at $18?
if anyone could explain it further, it would be appreciated!!

Short answer - yes you close out the position at $18, its called slippage.

i use ComSec which allows me to enter a Trigger Price and an At Limit essentially allowing me to specity a range for when the stop loss is triggered, it also allows me to specify a Trigger volume and a Trigger Time range, so for me it just depends on how i set up my triggers
