Are there any shares out there that when you buy you they won’t let you sell after x amount of years.

Hi Emine. If a Stock/Company becomes delisted/goes into an extended trading suspension or is taken over etc etc there may be reasons why you cannot sell/trade them … Do you have a situation where this has happened? The Stock "ticker" of the Co. in question will let everyone give you more specific info. Cheers.

That is cause someone told me that if you buy Woodside shares you can’t sell them after x amount of yrs which I thought was a bit odd

Hi,

I have heard of employee share plans which come with the condition you mention.

Regards.

Yep, I know CBA shares awarded to staff as bonus has a 1 year escrow period.

Your leg is being pulled, so if that someone tells you anything else about anything, don't believe him.
As I have posted here previously, I still hold some of the Woodside shares I bought in 1987 which is probably a lot longer than your x years.

Ok , thanks Emine.

Out of curiosity, how well do you know/trust this "someone's" credentials?

Ok, I thought we were talking about Fully Paid Ordinary... FPO.

Shares that lock you in.
Anything that's 0.001 or 0.002 in price. Highly likely to never make a profit.
