After purchasing shares how long does it take commsec(chess) to put you on the share holder register ?? I am wondering so I am on the register before the require record date.

Settlement is usually done on a t+3 basis, where "t" is the day where the buy/sell transaction was made.

So, for example, if you buy on monday, you would be on the register by Thursday.
