Sanford migration to Commsec

I'm a former client of sanford securities and was very happy with them. Unfortunately I've been migrated to commsec and my first impression is that commsec's website is seriously lacking in some of the things that I'd grown used to having, such as the ability to check all announcements for a watchlist or my entire portfolio with one click. Full market depth and my order's place in the order queue. Basic charting with MACD, RSI, Momentum. A news feed. Has anybody else transferred from Sanford to another broker and found them to be satisfactory? All suggestions gratefully received.

Yeah I closed my Sanford account because of the merge....won't touch comsec. Try Bell Direct http://www.belldirect.com.au/ for cheap brokerage. I agree that the Market depth screen on Sanford was good and haven't found similar yet...but I can do without it.

Actually I'm more interested in the features that I used to have with sanford, rather than the absolute rock-bottom brokerage regardless of the level of service. I checked out Bell's website and they seem to have a newsfeed at least which Commsec don't seem to, and the ability to see all the recent announcements in one place for any watchscreen you care to set up. They seem to have packed rather a lot on to one page though and the font size strains even my eyes (and I don't need glasses or contacts!).

I also had an idea; sanford used to provide the service for National Online Trading, and Bankwest. I've been to those websites and they both appear to still be the old sanford website (with NAB or Bankwest's logo at the top of course). I've contacted them to see if they intend to keep on using the old sanford interface or not. Awaiting response.

I agree they lack a whole heap of things that I enjoyed at sanford but there is the Announcements link on the Watchlist page which will take you to all the announcements for that list.

If you want to see your order in the depth, ask em about ProTrader 2.. i don't know if webIRESS does it for you.

Good luck!

Yeah, I found out about the announcements for a watchlist, but the max. number of stocks on a watchlist is not even enough for the number of stocks in my portfolio! My Sanford watchlists were migrated (I hadn:t noticed before) but now instead of 5 lists I have about 15. I:ve investigated Belldirect and they have the same news service as sanford used to use (that I also found I missed a lot when it wasn:t there any more!) and announcments for a watchlist on the same page.

Later I had a brainwave; sanford used to supply the service for NAB Online Trading, and Bankwest as well and so I:m planning to join the NAB and trade with them. The website appears to be the old sanford one with "NAB" at the top. I contacted NAB and they said they had no plans to change their service provider, so presumably the old website will be available from NAB into the future, even if Sanford:s own-branded service is no longer there. I:d welcome any advice from others who have used sanford and other brokers, and found them to be good.

Might work short term but it doesn't make sense (or money) for CommSec to shut down the Sanford platform and maintain it for NAB Online. Only a matter of time before CommSec transfers NAB to its in-house platform and closes the platform that supports the Westpac broking business.

I've been with Sanford for a few years and have been tranfered to Commsec,
I have found the Commsec site to be unfriendly, slow, the great Sanford features gone, mistakes and so on, even my portfolio has errors now, what a disaster this is.
I too will be looking for another site with Sanford features:banghead:

I have the same problem but with AVCOL now I'm trying to get my head around Commsec .My AVCOL website is completely closed down ,everything is transfered over like my :confused:portfolio, watchlist, accounts ,previous transactions a bit of a maze but I'm getting there .Ihave found everytime I'M in watchlist and click back to previous page I have to re-fresh to sight page.I WANT MY AVCOL BACK:dunno::cry::cussing:

I called Ausiex today (one of the businesses of IWL, who were bought by Commsec). They told me that they had no plans to change the interface (the old sanford one) for their wholesale broking clients. Wholesale and retail are seperate businesses. Former Sanford retail clients are all now with Commsec or another broker.

Therefore if you want the old sanford website back, best off joining NAB or Bankwest.

Hey I'm going back to Sanford, its now called Australian Investment Exchange,
same people, same site,
ph 1300360892 or www.bankwest.com.au
click online services top right
click share trading
click join now below the Sanford/Bankwest login
you will need to fill out a new application form and broker to broker form to transfer your stocks:):):D
Not sure about NAB, it may not have the updated Sanford features

Mayaswell try something different, new people, new site BELL DIRECT $15 Trades  ;) :D
If i changed my name, unfortunatley i would still be the same person

I really miss Sanford's End of Day Data emailed directly to me for free. Does anyone know if any other or the new site do this? With Comsec you have to wait until 8.30pm and then the figures for the indices are wrong and throw all my charts out!!!

I used to have a Rivkin trading A/C , turned into AVCOL , had cash accounts in with Bank West , which was about the only thing I liked about it , then one day I get a letter telling me it was being transferred or something over a year back now .

Ended up spitting the dummy and spreading it around into other brokerages , which was an almighty head f.

I've kept the main holding A/C paid the taxman his capital gains and now I use three Aussie brokerages through banks and one independent ( Bell ) and the internationals is held with HSBC .

I've started putting small amounts into a few CFD providers , to trade , not quite sure of it all yet , seems pretty straight forward , but I've had a couple of problems with fiscal inputs on their ledgers , no problems getting the money out , just getting the right amounts recorded . Plays havoc when you want to do something in the market and know the funds are there , but not by them yet ..............

Never had those problems with AVCOL must admit that , had a beauty with Rivkins , bought options and called them in , except come divvy time I had elected to take the shares , I got a cheque . The enquiry I made after that , had me find the person whom I bought the calls off , did not whack up with the shares , the screen ledger said they were there , but they weren't .

I wonder who sold me those calls ?

Dear Mr Pearson,

Thank you for the email. Please be advised that IWL have no reason, nor indication that either of these online Brokers will change providers. Further, the services used by Sanford, NAB and Bankwest are essentially identical.

If you have any further queries regarding this or any other matter please contact me on 1300 360 892 or cso@ausiex.com.au

Regards,

Cale McCulloch

I am now back with Sanford, called AUSIEX now, I had to open a new account
and found all my watch screens came back with entry prices and without all the Commsec mistakes, those horrible watch screens at Commsec and the rest of the site is a dinosaur, hard on the eyes too compared with Sanfords low key format, good to get the news feed and ann. plus todays trades and all other features that were missing, I couldn't find the RSI on Commsec charts that bugged me as well. Those adds on top of the screen flickering away were annoying wern't they?
I looked at a few other broker sites and they didn't have a virtual tour so didnt waste my time with them, better the devil you know than the devil you don't know.:)

Hi Tezz, How did you open an account with Ausiex? When I looked at their site I was redirected to Commsec. Do you have a link you can send please? I joined NAB Online Trading which is basically sanford as before, but because of the large NAB logo at the top, the text on the news items is tiny compared to how it used to be on sanford. Thanks.

Hi exgeo, sorry have been away, Kuade has the link, don't forget to fill out the broker to broker form and get Ausiex to get your stocks back, it was easier that way rather than getting Commsec to do it, any worries ring them on their free number.
cheers Tezz
