If a company has announced that it's ex dividend date is....... and the payable date is....... do they ever change their mind to not pay dividends (ie the poor state of the economy)?

I have been doing a search on the companies I hold stocks with and a few of them have already announced dividend payable dates that have already passed and I have held these shares for over 12months. For example MAP's ex dividend date is 23 December 2008 and they're payable date was 19th February 2009.

Is there somewhere to check up on this? All my details are up to date with Computershare and Link market services.

The companies official website (investor relations section) would be the first place I would look, as something like that would have had to result in a notification to the ASX etc. Having said that, I think the scenario you describe is unheard of - once results have been announced to the market, a dividend declared and the ex date set etc, then the company is committed - I would imagine only an intervening bankruptcy or appointment of administrators etc would stop the payment of the committed dividend.

Cheers,

Am I able to contact the company in relation to this or is there someone else you have to go through?

Are the dividends payed into a bank account or are u missing a check/s?

OK this one is pretty simple

Find out the share registry for the company, it's either computershare, link market services or issuer sponsored.

Next find your HRN or SRN and log in to the applicable site. Most companies are computershare.

Go to the website and log in, then you can click on payment history and get a listing of all dividends paid to you from that particular company.

You can also use the sites to check/change your bank account details for dividend payments

Thanks
Brad
