Now what I don't like is the fact that anyone can post & post & post .

Its the Quality of the posts, Not the quantity of posts that should determine ones rank.

This needs to be debated urgently !

I don't think it is practical to go through and rate posts.

I believe that regular readers soon work out those who "know" and those that are BS......

If anything it may be better to have no classification there and let the reader be guided by the actual post info and form there own opinion.

And any "rating" of posts would be entirely subjective. You may rate a post highly whilst someone else would rate it towards the bottom on the quality scale.

I can see your point, Bob, but think it would be difficult to come up with a feasible alternative.

When I joined this forum only a few weeks back I was left guessing as to what titles senior, junior, etc. meant. My first guess was that "senior" referred to a member who is over 65, possibly got a beard and could be a pensioner. Likewise term "junior" was a tag for someone who is under 30, and may still be a bit immature. I didn't realise until this current bobby's post that it was a term used to describe members' posting activity, which is already provided in better detail in the right hand corner at top of each post.

sam76 isn't banned, he's just having a bit of a lend of us.

I have the custom user title option enabled and sam has set his to 'Banned' as a joke. Anyone else can do the same by clicking on Edit Profile in your UserCP and entering something where it says 'Custom User Title'.

With regards to the posting ranks, this is something I haven't thought about since 2004. I vaguely remember some discussion about it back then and I changed 'Elite Member' to 'Veteran Member' but haven't even given it a second thought since. It is simply a measure of the quantity of posts, not the quality so I wouldn't worry about it too much. If someone has a suggestion for a change to the posting ranks then by all means let me know and I'll consider it.

Ahh, that's better! There is a way to make me look more female but modesty prevailed and thought I would stick to the same principles as bullmarket has!

Yeah Sam, the banned had me fooled too - I kept thinking why is this guy allowed to keep posting?
