Hi there,

I have heard that the e-mini is a cheaper way to begin trading, but I am having trouble trying to understand exactly how it all works. I am aware that it is a futures contract based on the SFE SPI 200. Is it $5 per contract or $5 per index point? What exactly does the latter mean?

Which brokers offer e-mini trading? How do I find out what contracts are available at what prices? What are the stock codes?

Can somebody please walk me through how a trade takes place and how money changes hands? An example would be fantastic. I am familiar with options trading but this seems to be a little bit different.

Thanks muchly.

E-mini is just another buzz word for futures.
I suggest you do some research on futures and then back test before trying anything.

Btw this question has been raised before on this forum, so use the search function. It would explain why no one has replied to your post.

Good luck

The E Minis are US stock indexes such as the S&P 500, Dow Jones and NASDAQ. They are traded electronically using a trading platform on your computer. Daily Trading on the US E Minis exceeds $USD40 Billion dollars per day. It was launched by the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and is now regarded by leading financial experts as one of the most successful financial product ever launched.

Some of the advantages of trading E Minis are:

* Pay just $5.00 USD round trip commissions
* No market makers
* No gaps during market hours
* 70:1 leverage
* 2 points = 10% ROI in minutes
* No over night positions held
* Trade long or short

Minimum account size for trading E Minis is just $1000 US which makes it easy for anyone to get started quickly, and with 5-10% return on investment it won't take you long to build your account up.

I hope this has helped you.

Dangerous and just plan DUMB!!! Any one that is after this rubbish deserve what they have coming. Very quick and painful losses.

The only people that quote ROM (return on margin) are sprukers!!

Dangerous and not the way to start.

Come in spinners, LOL if that ain't a marketing setup I'll go he.

GO Markets new Metatrader4 platform is a good place to start trading the SPI, their smallest contract size is .10 ($2.50 per point) with 40 cents commish each way, they also have most emini's and other futures, FX etc.
