Ok slightly long winded but here goes;

Was recently denied credit so got my report. Found out that Origin Energy have listed a default on there from 2010 when i was no longer living in a property. We had moved interstate and set-up mail forwarding.

I contacted Origin on the 16th May and was told they would look into it and get back to me. No response.

As above a week later. No Response

As above a week later again, they said the work request had been closed as i didnt provide them any information (they said they would contact me explaining what they needed). I emailed them lease agreements etc proving we werent in the property at the time.

A week later, no response so i i called them, they asked me to re-email the details which i did. I also called the Ombudsman (this is the 11th of July).

Was contacted 2 days later by someone in Australia (finally!) who said he had the email and would get back to me. A week later no response and he didnt give me any email or phone number. Called the ombudsman again.

2 days later get an email from a different person asking me to email through what i had already previously. I reply to his email and leave a voice mail, he doesnt contact me for 9 days (today).

Today he advises that he is still waiting for the details to be emailed through, and that he had not seen my email reply 9 days ago. I said i wanted compensation he says they cant compensate for time. I asked him how long they have been looking into the issue, and he confirms since July 11th, yet he still cant tell me when they sent the bills or tried to call me, so it has taken him nearly a month and still no closer to why i would not have gotten a bill via mail forwarding.

So in short, 7 weeks, and 13 phone calls and they are just at the start of their 'investigation' and cannot give me a timeframe.

Veda said i need to contact the provider who listed the default on my report The ombudsman is helpful, but hamstrung. Is there any way i can get this off my credit report without having to talk to Origin? Or can i sue them for lost time? Apparently the most they ever credit is $100 and i am obviously no longer a Origin customer

At that point, I would have attempted to work my way upwards through the chain of command in a single call until I got a satisfactory answer.

Spoke to 2 different supervisors (overseas) and they both said i couldnt speak to the department who dealt with it directly, nor could they put me through to someone in Australia

In circumstances like these where you end up spending a lot of time sorting out their mess, I have pondered sending them an invoice for the time and see what response that generates.

They have said that they do not compensate for time. It would be interesting to send and invoice and then get the debt collectors onto them eventually

Isn't it terrible that these days nothing short of a public shaming on the companies Facebook or twitter page will get you the customer service you actually deserve?

That's it exactly. It would seem like a cheap way to get attention to discuss the issue instead of having to take them to court.
