Any Mac users out there? I can't get the new ComSec charting to load in either Firefox or Safari. ComSec are clueless.

I know there's a Java update that I haven't installed because I can't get it to download. We're on wireless broadband in a (very) marginal area and big downloads are often problematic. I'll keep trying, but Clueless ComSec don't know if the new system uses Java. I am current on Flash (speaking of Clueless software).

Any suggestions except running IE and/or Windows gratefully accepted.

Problem solved, after 2nd phone call found a Clued up Comsec Helpdesk operator. Nothing to do with Mac or Firefox. The new system uses 3rd party cookies, which I don't allow. Exception granted for the relevant site; charting works.

Apologies for placing question in wrong thread.

Hi fellow Mac users,

Has anyone been able to get the latest version of comseciress up and running ?

I didn't have any luck, the black "logging on" screen just hangs.

Please Help.

Hmm,

In reference to the above post I've discovered iress works on my laptop (runs snow leopard ) but not on my desktop which runs leopard, any tips ?

Both have had the latest upgrades installed.

May just end up going down to the macshop and buying a new OS.

Cutz,

I am very interested to see that you got iress to work on Snow Leopard. Which browser were you using? I have Snow Leopard and have had no luck with iress in any browser on the mac.

Hi wecanallinvest,

That's interesting, just as well I didn't upgrade the OS.

I only use the default safari browser.

To be honest i've pretty much given up trying to run iress on the Mac, it's too buggy. I ended up cleaning up my windows laptop to run it.

Only use the iMac to run IB's TWS which together are as good as gold.

I contacted iress when I first got my mac and asked if they planned to provide support for it in the future and the answer was no (commsec had me believe it would work on the mac when I first asked). Bit hard to believe a web app can't run cross platform, especially provided they are the one just about every broker in Australia uses for their clients.

I am in the same boat - windows laptop for trading too until iress bothers to work it out.

I haven't heard of TWS but will have to check it out.

sorry if im repeating something thats already been answered but im in a bit of a rush

i subscribed to IRESS today through my commsec, on my mac, when i went to launch it i get the clock with the connecting thing and in the top left hand corner it gives me the error message and when i click on it and go to details it says the following:

Java Plug-in 1.5.0_26
Using JRE version 1.5.0_26-b03-376-9M3263 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM
User home directory = /Users/(my mac user name)

ive tried changing some setting to no avail so i reset them to default again

btw im runny 10.5.8 leopard and i have the latest version 8 java and still nothing, ive rung apple, commsec multiple times even nextbyte but nothing, amazing how no1 can help at all unless u spend money, which i dont want to do because my Macbook pro is the old silver keypad 1 with a stuffed optical drive and i cant install snow leopard

lol

Hi,

I own 3 macs and love em to bits (not pun intended).
But i keep a P4 pc that I bought from the markets for $70 on hand.
For $70 if (and I think it has happened, not sure) if there is a technical issue regarding OS platform on goes the P4. For $70 I got a PC & a legit Win-xp.

Just sharing......

FYI I have not used comsec webiress (used First Prudential & Bell Direct WI). Preference was FP.
