Just wondering why for example on my holdings page it shows a loss today for Rio stocks of 60 cents.

Yet when i look at Rio's chart it shows its up for the day it shows its up about 40 cents from the open???

Depends on the price that you paid for the stock. So say you bought RIO at $70.00, and the stock opened today at $69.00.

Over the course of the day, the stock has gone up to $69.40 - so it's made a 40c gain.

However since you bought the stock at $70.00, your holdings are down 60c

($70.00 - $69.40 = 0.60c).

When showing a profit or loss for the day the comparison is with yesterday's close which for RIO was $87.90.

Ok i would of thought yesterdays closing price would of been where today opened and then moved on from there.

Cheers,

Matt, you should be able to edit your own p/f page so that you actually understand the information on it.
Usually, there will be a column showing your cost price, date of purchase etc.
You should be able to select, e.g. $ amount inc/dec over your cost price, % inc/dec, total gain, and a large number of other alternatives.

Perhaps phone your broker and ask them to help you set it up so that makes the most sense to you.
