Level 2 screens and market makers?

Hi Guys,

I am new to trading and had a couple of questions regarding level 2 screens and market makers.

How do i attain a level 2 screen?

What exactly is a market maker. I am reading a market maker is someone or firm that is able to see offer and bid of a particular stock keeping it liquid and not going stale.

My question is, i use commsec trading platform and i can see the bid and offer of a particular stock. Does this mean that if i am either selling or buying a stock i am actually in fact a market maker for that stock?

I am a little confused about level 2 screens and market makers.

if someone could clarify that would be great.
