Can't find companies within a sector online?

Hi guys,

Noobie here, hope you can help me. I've nailed down a sector that I wish to invest in, but now I can't find a listing of companies within that sector online. Is there anywhere that lists all of the companies within a sector eg. Information Technology. I thought it would be easy to find the information I need for research online, but I am finding much more difficult than expected. Should I pay a subscription fee for more information or is it all available somewhere out there for free?

That helps a lot. Now what if I wanted to determine out of a particular sector, say Information Technology. Which companies had performed the best over the last 3 months. Is there a way to view that, or do I have to go through each company individually. The Trading room only gives you the last days trading movement. I want to see the history over the last 3 months and the percentage moves.
