heading over in Augest. very keen on a beach front/beach view villa'esk accommodation. looking at phi phi/krabi/koh samui area but are open to suggestions of other places. boat hire/beach lounging/snorkeling/lounging/beaching is on the agenda, not keen on anything that doesn't involve sand or water!

any suggestions? we want the prettiest most relaxing place we can get.

GO FORTH

Anything on Phuket will do, steer clear of patong if you want serenity but that is realistically the best place to be - its where it all happens!

Any resort on phi phi will suit you

krabi

if you want heaven

forget the rest,, daytrip or overnight the others..

I found the Thai beaches to be pretty rubbish, but I like waves lol....

Phi Phi was overcrowded but beautiful, the coral has suffered from the number of tourists but there were crazy fish everywhere...

Patong is disgusting, *****s, ladyboys and Indian tailors... Complete with dirty old men and their 'Girlfriends'... Oh and dodgy standovermen that think you will pay for a seat on the beach...

I stayed at Nai Yang Beach up the north of Phuket for a while and that was beautiful, once again, no waves = rubbish beach....

I'd rather go to the barrier reef...

Hyatt Regency Hua Hin
--- excellent; just spent six days there in June 2009.
--- our annual must do
--- we lived in Thailand for five years
--- my wife and our 200+ visitors loved Thailand.

Why would you go all the way to Thailand when you could be on Orpheus in less than a half day?
7 course degustation menu
21 snorkling and diving sites
No kids
No out side guests
And only $1600 per night?

It was a beautiful sunset tonight!!!

Best

Only $1600 a night? Bargain :

Thats what we are paying for flights and 10 nights accom over to Phuket

That's a strange comment, maybe I misunderstand.

I reckon the deckchairs and food/beers on call are brilliant and I'll pay to sit any day. Umbrella, chairs, table - too easy!

You think they proprietors do not pay for setting up their business on the sand?

If it's the people that beckon you to sit at their spot. They are no different than the charity dudes, the Foxtel and Cancer Council girlies at Wynyard Station, just-keep-walking

I enjoyed Phuket

We stayed at Le Meridien - a few years now

I found the beaches clean

Very relaxing

Forget phuket and all the other islands being mentioned here...

Go to Koh Phangan, get yourself to a full moon party and experience something unique. Then pop to Koh Tao and spend a few weeks buzzing around on a little motorbike and getting Thai massages.
