Hello

I placed a GTC order for a company option (not an Exchange Traded Option, but an option for a listed company) over one calendar month ago. The order, as yet, hasn't been cancelled by the broker (NABTrade) or the ASX.

What is the expiry date for a GTC order for a company option on the ASX?

I searched the ASX web pages, but could find only this:

Good-Till-Expiry (Expiry/GTE): The order expires on the instrument’s expiry date.​

on this ASX page.

However, I can't find any reference on the ASX web site to an order's "instrument's expiry date".

When does this order type expire as far as ASX systems go?

i have very little experience in ASX-listed options ( and none with NABtrade )

what is the official expiry-date of THAT particular option ?

some can have long dates ( several months in one case that i owned , before i exercised that option )

in normal stocks , Bell Direct allows orders to persist until cancelled ( or purged ) which might be a year for stocks paying an annual div.

while Commsec allows one month ( but you can manually extend that near the expiry date )

try to find a similar page on your platform .. starting under derivatives ( of the share you are looking for )

Thanks, @divs4ever - but this is an ASX thing.

Just trying to find out when the ASX will cancel a GTC order. It will happen, according to the ASX, on the instrument's expiry date. So, for example, if I placed a GTC order for BHP ordinary shares, what is that instrument's order expiry date (as per ASX web page)?

Can't find a reference anywhere.

only usually deal with options ( and rarely at that ) when it is a company cash raising thing , WAXO back in 2014 as an example

Could it be that the Last Trading Day for an Options Market Contract is the Trading Day that falls on the Expiry Date of that option.

I'm still looking for the definitive answer, but the ASX makes it extremely difficult to find it. Another example how the ASX is an antique.

@peter2 - don't know. The option expiry date could be 3 or 4 years away, so this seems unlikely.

I haven't been able to find an answer. I'll email ASX and see what happens.
