What's your retirement asset allocation percentages?

Use index for large cap Aus & Global, and AREITs. Go active for Small/mid Caps, EM, Bonds (could go both index & active here) and G-REITs. The Aussie small cap index is dog-**** and easy to beat. Don't use an index fund here. The question then is Asset Allocation. Can use diversified...

The future of Australian property prices

Govn't-funded housing will face the same issues as with anything taxpayer-funded....it will be rife with corrupt behavior, outrageously-expensive labour costs, unions will run the show.... see NDIS or the Big Build in Victoria. We'll end up new housing which is more expensive than it is today...

Superannuation, the ultimate government cash cow?

I only use them for clients who can access Age Pension. Once you add that into the equation it's a different story. It's never 'all-in' on an annuity either, I'd look at 20-30% of retirement assets max. The remainder in Cash/TDs/Equities, with the exact mix depending on age & income requirements.

Superannuation, the ultimate government cash cow?

Lifetime Annuities are a widely-used option by Financial Advisers. Challenger are the biggest provider and they offer a Lifetime Annuity. These have a cash-out/withdrawal value in the early years following purchase, so they are more flexible than they used to be. You can opt for indexation of...

    Actively managed portfolio journey

Some thoughts: I would buy a property. Buy something you would be happy to live in if you had to, but knowing that it could make more sense to rent it out for now and live with parents, or in a sharehouse etc. for a better cash flow & tax outcome. If you keep accumulating cash in an offset...

    Inflation

I think the usual bailout will occur. They have to tell us rates aren't coming down, otherwise markets will rally and inflation won't fall in the short term.

Superannuation, the ultimate government cash cow?

A decent Financial Adviser and Accountant can easily guide anyone through these changes. I don't understand the panic. If in doubt, pull some assets out of super and invest through a different structure. Worst case scenario, you might have to pay some tax.

    Investment implications of WW3

I find it hard to imagine Gold actually being of any great significance in one of these doomsday scenarios. It serves no practical purpose other than being a traditional 'store of value'. I doubt you're going to be exchanging real goods for gold coins any time in the future. That might have...

    RBA cash rate

Because debt levels are far far higher now, then they were during previous cycles. And because of the sudden and unexpected nature of the increase.

Australian Investment Education or Elite Futures Mastery?

He seems to have evolved his approach, and may not technically be breaking any laws. I'd say the story these days is that you are just not going to get value for money. His marketing is still centered around the idea that you do his course, and then you'll be empowered to achieve better...

    Inflation

hi Knobby, I'm trying to track down where this 0.3% figure comes from. I know Kohler quoted it on the news, but I can't see it in the ABS data.

The future of Australian property prices

New housing/construction numbers will collapse (already happening/happened). It's hard to see prices for existing homes falling much at all though, given all of those factors!

The future of Australian property prices

Jeeezus, are these stories real?? Retiring with 12 highly leveraged properties, to fund your retirement "in lieu of superannuation". Sounds like a really savvy 'ex-businessman' :(

Superannuation, the ultimate government cash cow?

Vanguard Super offering is a disappointment. Having 36 adjustments...I mean it's OK if you intend to take no interest in your super, and plan to retire at 65 years old and just want the super fund to handle everything for you. If you aren't John Citizen however, then it may not be the best...

    Bitcoin price discussion and analysis

I agree. I still don't understand why it has value, let alone why it should appreciate in value over time. Happy to be proven wrong...I'm not saying I know with any degree of certainty that it's future is doomed, I just still do not understand why the value of a coin will necessarily be...
