Came across this thought provoking story on The Free Press . Opens up the conversation about the issues facing men in the US (and why not in Oz ?) looking for a partner.

Well I made the 6 ft at 15 years of age. The rest, well She is happy.
 
It reminded me of my single life during my 20s and early 30s. I regret listening and being influenced by society’s cues that you must have girlfriend to be normal, etc. So many people were f#$&#&$$&* narrow minded back in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s.

If I had my time again, I would tell myself that single is great. I’m proud to be an ugly obnoxious and financially destitute jerk. Loneliness was not the main problem - it’s all those narrow minded and judgemental pricks around me who think “what’s wrong with you?” and they treated me like $&$$&#. I regret not having the courage to tell them to f#&$ o&$.

I only found out later that I have Asperger’s syndrome and there’s no way I can chat any girl up. My advice to my younger self is to forget about those superficial expectations. Just focus on yourself only, take on the world alone. Just do lots of sports and enjoy your own compan. The world is overpopulated and I don’t need to have kids just to satisfy some wrongful expectation.

It was after listening to my one of my fav metal/hard rock bands screaming the phrase “ALONE! It‘s the only way to be….” Then I was really happy being single.

(Disclaimer: my partner and I have been together for 18 years. She doesn’t want me to vent about my single life. 😂)

Yea..... Same.

25 years for me now.

Even at the over 55s I wouldn't mind "dating". Impossible. Gave up about a year ago.

Probably why the wife ain't Aussie.
 
We have a local "bikie" sgt at arms Great family bloke with 3 kids. Top bloke when at home and away from the rest. Not so nice when with the others. Stands at a terrific height of just 5'3".

My 6'4" single son sent me this picture a while back, when I asked him if he was ever going to settle down, he said this sums up today's dating scene.;)
I got a laugh out of it.:roflmao:

To me it just shows how the world has moved on, from a world where women basically married young and started a family, to today where equality has made women very much more selective about their life choices, IMO a definite positive. :xyxthumbs
Another unintended consequence of social change.
 
Although society has changed, children are still fed the same garbage fairy tales of Prince Charming making a girl forever happy and males having it all: house, car, high power jobs, being the man of the house, etc. Wake up! It’s not the 1950s, 1960s (or 1970s) anymore.

If some girls can’t accept the fact that there are very few males who will satisfy 6-6-6 when the girls have (and deserve) the higher income and their husbands could be worthy house husbands (that taxi driver in the above article is a perfect example where he would have taken good care of his wife if he could ever get one.) Income Equality (as fantastic as it is), either has a price or should I say there are some compromises. Girls should not choose or reject dates on superficial traits but they probably will as society has taught them to believe in fairy tales. Males (which I am very sure they do) should openly accept that the toxic male role models defined back in the 1950s is dead and gone. It is more about team work and good communication where each individual contributes whatever they can.

Something is still telling everyone that we still need to hang on to wrongful beliefs where girls had to use marriage as a financial contract for centuries.
 
To the taxi driver in the article and other single men: you haven’t given up, you haven’t “dropped out“, you have not failed to get a partner and society is totally wrong to devalue your contributions to people lives. You should not measured by your income and you have now stood tall by not playing that “dating game”.

Yes it is hard being single. It costs more to be single, both financially and emotionally. Constant news articles and “studies“ always state that married men live longer, are happier, are healthier, etc and single men are doomed. Choose to buck the trend and show how these “facts” are lies by living a full life yourself. Advertising, socialising plus much more are aimed at couples and it’s designed to make you single guys feel down. Stand tall and prove that being an ugly obnoxious single jerk is the only way to be. It should not matter whether you are single or couple to anyone. Be happy with yourself and don’t pay any price to be in a toxic relationship just to satisfy some vague expectation.

I felt really happy not investing any time nor money in the dating game. So grateful that I am an ugly obnoxious jerk. 🤣

Well, according to "She Who is never Wrong" I can be tha,t not so ugly, but sometimes obnoxious, and sometimes a jerk. Withstanding all that 51.5 years together sometimes a bit rough, sometimes a bit bad and mostly just plain good.
Of course A Happy Wfe, makes for a Happy Life also.
 
I wish this vid was around in my younger years. (YouTube - one of the best inventions of the past 16-18 years 😀)



Maybe those dropping out of dating are watching this brilliant vid 😃
