    He'll be 79 in 2020.

Who's gonna keep him propped up?

    Trump will be 74.
The days of young Presidents are over? Bush II. Clinton and Obama were much younger.
I can't see Bernie being any more than a 1 termer if he gets in. He knows how to cut through though, if his health holds up, which is not a given, it could be very interesting.

Hillary was supposedly on her deathbed, they probably will be saying Bernie is dead and it's just like the movie!

If Bernie gets in I reckon he'll appoint a young VP in case he doesn't make it through the term.

There are some younger commies that could fill the bill for the Komrades. But they still have to get past the more centrist and neo liberal contenders.

Also he is white, straight and male, the bottom of the intersectional totem pole, despite being the most leftist of the Komrades.... and the health check will be interesting.

If Burnie was a 60 year old and got all Dem voters out he would likely walk it in how ever unlikely to get nominated Dems are still a right wing party practising neo-liberalism funded by big money elites just like the rest of US politics.

John Howard was a farting fossil fool at 147 when he left office.

Can't see a problem for Bernie, really :)

    Why are they crap?

Free university is crap? Money better spent on prison and militarised police or educate kids who might want day get a job and can think and invent?

Universal healthcare so that if you're sick or injured, you and your family won't go broke. That's crap?

Trump just cut almost $1B to California towards its planned high speed rail project. His admin is going to sue to get the other $4.5B back.

Why high speed rail to lower fuel consumption, lower pollution, save people commute time, save them some money and better health... maybe kick start or create a few jobs...

Nah, stuffed that. Let's build a wall!

    MAGA!

You do know that Venezuela have been sanctioned for practically the past 20 years right?

They tried to overthrow Chevez back in the early 2000. After the died (of cancer), sanctions were ramped up.

And just recently, oil as well as gold export were also sanctioned.

Before that... no country can trade or do business with Venezuela. No financial transactions; no import of food or medicine etc. etc.

Under all that, Venezuela still have open elections at all level of its gov't. It still manages to house homeless, provide free education, eradicating illiteracy etc. etc. And yes, the UN and other electoral watch have all agreed that elections were not rigged or screwed with.

    But why?

Having the world's largest oil reserves, right at the back door of the US.

But sure, that not nothing to do with Trump's need for liberation and freedom. He really like poor brown people from "sh!thole" countries.

Here you go... from Russia, with love.

Withholding Venezuela's $1.2B in gold deposit they stored in the UK.

Not paying billions in oil revenue; freezing assets and bank accounts.

But oh yea, there's a few pallets of aid they got at the border though. Branson is going to hold a concert.

I'm not quite sure how the planners reckon they could just do this kind of coup successfully. I mean, seriously... will the people just surrender and let a foreign power come on in, telling them who ought to be their president?

This guy lived through it all.

Send him some coin if you have spare change. He has been posting for years and gives insights into the madness of socialist governments.

Socialist dictators ruined the country, not sanctions. Socialism is a disease on freedom's and peoples rights once it moves past a certain point.

We can also make a list of the countries that have tried and utterly failed with socialism. Then we can also of course, make a list of the countries that have tried and succeeded with socialism, which is 0.

To add: any authoritarian governments in my view suck, no matter if left or right.
