Anyone here use Sharechecker on Sharesight?

How do you feel about the accuracy of Share checker in regards to a stocks performance growth / dividends / total ?

Are there any other sites that are similar where you can do a 'pretend' investment back in time to track the performance?

One of my children is into this thing with sharesight. I don't use it or other software, Yesterday evening I was sent a small spreadsheet comparing popular ETFs reflecting the "performance" for this financial year using the share checker. From what I was told it is based on $10k being invested on 30 June 2022. Here is the screenshot.

The results looked very strange to me, especially in regard to the dividend column. Not being familiar with the product I asked a few questions about any details available. And, yes, there seems to be a slight twist as far as I can work out. For VAS, IOZ, A200 and VGS, the dividends include the payments made in July 2022, which should properly be attributed to the previous financial year. But STW does not include the July payment. My guess is the calculations for the distribution % is based on when the product goes ex-. For the July distribution, STW went ex- before the end of the FY whereas the others went ex- in the current FY.

No real idea why the CG for STW is higher apart from the possibility it had gone ex-distribution at that stage which would have affected the price at the time.

Suggested that, if they are going to use the product, they not rely on the share checker facility in these circumstances.

I used it for a while, since a lot of Aussie brokers offer it. It's not accurate. Do a search and read some of the reviews.

Thanks, I'll pass the message on. I see it has a free version as well various subscription packages. I guess if you can use a free version, it may be OK provided the user understands the product has limitations. Not paid version though as my feeling is you're not getting what you would reasonably expect i.e. accuracy.
