When I first started going out with the woman who has now been my wife for 33 years, one of my "mates" came up and said something like "you lucky c###, I hear she ia a real slut!"

Though I had only known her a short time, this did not seem true, and I said so. But he proceeded to detail all the guys that had claimed to #### her.

Although we did not save sex for marriage, it was *obvious that she was a virgin when it happened some time later. She remains a thoroughly modest, moral and decent human being today.

Yet even today, 35 years later, she carries that reputation with her. I have no doubt there are stories of Porn star like allegations of promiscuity .

Likewise, I have a reputation. Unfortunately, though thoroughly undeserved, as any red blooded male, I wish I had done what I was supposed to have. (though I probably would have contracted several STDs).

The truth is that we are a normal, reserved couple that hasn't done anything immoral, yet, thirty odd years later, the legend of our fictional exploits persist.

I wonder if anyone can see some current parellels?

Some people want a cotton wool world were they can feel nice and warm and wrapped up, nobody ever gets offended and everyone lives happily ever after.

Just won't happen I'm afraid.

Most people are bastards...

It's tough being on the wrong side of lying xxxxholes. And certainly the current investigation of the behaviour of Brett Kavanaugh has brought a few incidents to light.

For a start the publication of his year book showed that Kavanaugh described himself on his yearbook page as a “Renate Alumnius” (sic), which classmates explained as the code phrase that boys used to boast about their sexual conquest of a female student at a nearby Catholic girls’ school. About a dozen other students also dropped this line in their page to share the joy.

It took 35 years for Renate Schroeder Dolphin to realise what a pack of twats these boys were. Unfortunately this came to light after she had signed a group letter saying that Brett Kavanaugh had always treated women with respect. She had to take her name off the letter when she realised what a pack of mockers they were.

Of course we don't know whether Renate had in fact slept with all the boys who dropped this line their year book (how tacky) or hadn't - in which case it was just casual, nasty evil. Or a bit of both. Take your pick.

And there are other examples of how a seriously nasty liar can destroy a womens reputation for years on end. Consider this.

It only took one boy to destroy my reputation for the rest of my academic career.

I was dating a boy I really liked, so when another classmate made a pass at me, I explained that I was going with someone else, and I turned him down. The next morning, my “friend” – let’s call him Rat – told classmates that I’d slept with him. Since I had declined to have sex with the boy I actually liked, the ugly rumor made me look like a lying hypocrite. Hurt and humiliated, my boyfriend promptly broke up with me, leaving me heartbroken and bewildered. I hadn’t even done what I was accused of doing – and yet that didn’t protect me from public scorn, let alone the loss of my first love.

But there was worse to come. When I started college, I was 16 years old. On my first day, I met a sophomore whose blue eyes were speckled with gold. Soon we were spending every free moment together. He knew I was a virgin, and he was respectful of my wishes – until his roommate went home to Boston for the weekend. In a diabolical coincidence, the roommate was invited to a party where he met Rat, who was attending college there. When he learned the name of Rat’s hometown in New York, he asked if Rat knew me – whereupon Rat gleefully regaled him with a sordid account of what a tramp I had been in high school.

The roommate was astonished, because he knew me as the clueless virgin who wouldn’t sleep with his friend. But of course he came back to our university in Philadelphia and told all his fraternity brothers I was a deceitful slut. Like my high school boyfriend, my college boyfriend responded by ending our relationship.

Not yet 17 and still a virgin, I had now been slandered up and down the eastern seaboard by a single false rumor spread by one boy who managed to wreck my reputation in high school and in college, which had in turn cost me both my high school boyfriend and my college boyfriend.

It is tough Wayne. Your current poster boy has exposed a whole new world of behaviour amongst prep boys. I sincerelyt hope the truth comes out and justice is served.

High school slut-shaming still haunts me. Kavanaugh made me relive it

The pain of being shamed by a boastful, lying schoolboy has never left me. Now, I’m reliving it all over again

When Renate Schroeder Dolphin signed a group letter to the Senate judiciary committee claiming that Brett Kavanaugh treated women with respect, she didn’t realize that the boy she had known in high school had publicly slut-shamed her for the amusement of his fellow football players.

I'm as anti politically correct as the next center lefty....but my sympathies towards spoiled private schooled bullies doesn't go very far. I loved to drink and party as a kid, I enjoyed the company of women as well, frequently. I am able to recall it all and know in my heart I was a gentleman, as I was taught to be.

There is one lier in that pair today...it's not hard to guess which one that might be. More to come on that, likely not what the republicans will want to believe.

This isn't about political correctness or left wing spin. It's now just about what's right and wrong...or what used to be known as right or wrong.

Leaving the binary world behind there is always more than two permutations ... that's the world I dwell in...both people in any argument could be lying, not just either or.

The overall concept applies far beyond sex and affects both genders, indeed roughly half of the victims I’ve known have been male.

Bullies take a terrible toll in so many ways but are very rarely brought to account.

Those who dismiss such things as part of life, whilst unfortunately correct, are underestimating the damage caused in my view.

It is a standard among those who deal for profit in the sexual matters of humans NEVER to believe the sexual history of a client/patient/customer.

This would apply equally to a physician, a pox doctor's clerk, a psychologist, a whore or a rent-boy.

Cave emptor.
