Paul Manfort received a 4 year jail sentence on conviction multiple tax fraud, bank fraud and covering up huge international bank accounts. The prosecutor suggested these offenses should receive between 19-24 years jail time.

The judge decided 4 years was sufficient. So why does a white collar criminal get away with such a relatively lenient sentence ? What are the comparisons with other crimes.?

All the crimes Paul Manafort was just convicted of
He was found guilty of false tax returns, failure to report foreign assets, and bank fraud.
