It's Melbourne Cup week this week. What are your tips for the big race?

My money is on Johannes Vermeer for the win on Tuesday afternoon.

For those who love a punt, where are you planing to put your hard earned? :)

It's always hard to pick, this year I have narrowed the field to 10 (lol). Amelies Star is one chance that I am seriously looking at.

    All very good chances.
I have gone with the following horses each way.
    3. Humidor - its running very well at present.
    6. Red Cardinal - Won some good races sure its last start wasn't great and it hasn't run in Australia but still a very good horse.
    23. Amelies Star The win at the Bart Cummins race showed she has class.

I have added 5 other horses to my quinella and trifecta 4,7,9,20,22.
I really like Nakeeta also but you can't back everything.

Such a shame for Red Cardinal, barrier 24, but agree a quality horse.
Amelies Star, yes some value there at the odds 20/1 or so. Good trainer, good jockey, good barrier, good weight.

Another year, another entrapment for all the young gamblers who try to beat the crooked horse racing game. A game you will consistently lose. The TAB's, Sportsbet etc. biggest takings day of the year. For some it is like their first shot of heroin. For others it starts off as a weekend thing and develops to weekdays and delving into the savings. They can't be beaten but they can feed off your finances for as long as you allow them. Like having money tick attached and feeding constantly.

Please don't let this happen to you after the Melbourne Cup. Have a go and let them go for another year.

It's the materialism of rogue protons and neutrons from inside the share market where high-speed trading signals and computer algorithms escape the virtual universe and overpower essential neurons in the human brain causing drunkenness, anti-social behaviour and peculiar intimacy with the grass verges of the Flemington Racecourse.

Several examples of this inexplicable analogous embodiment are contained in the spoilers below...
