Good morning everyone and welcome to the January 2020 stock tipping competition. The first competition of the new decade! :)

This month's competition is proudly sponsored by FP Markets.

FP Markets is an Australian owned and ASIC regulated broker with over 12 years experience and 35 industry awards including Highest Overall Client Satisfaction 5 years running. They facilitate trading in equities, indices, commodities, futures, Forex and Bitcoin via their MetaTrader4 platform.

FP Markets offer 10,000+ equities, indices and commodities across all major international markets. All equity CFDs are DMA priced and 100% hedged. FP Markets are not a market maker so their interests are aligned with that of their clients. You can go long on everything listed on the ASX and international markets and they have the widest short offering of any Australian broker.

This month there were a number of entrants who forgot to post in the thread of their stock tip in accordance with the competition rules: @Purple XS2, @walp, @Jase-W, @Rokewa, @Miner, and @Kaya. I will give these entrants another 48 hours to post in the thread of their competition entry. If they choose to do so then I will add them to the January competition. :)

Please note that you cannot rely on a post from a previous month. The post must be made in the month that you enter the competition.

Unfortunately for @explod, his entry (KAI) fell below the 1c mark and was not replaced before the deadline for entries.

Could all qualifying entrants please check their entry and entry price and report any errors to me in this thread.

Keep track of the results here: ASF Stock Competition Leaderboard

Feel free to discuss the competition in this thread as the month progresses.

I tried to enter this morning before the open but you had already closed the thread. Just as well because I am very much in the camp that knows that 2020 is the last year of the decade, not the first. Ask the Pope if you doubt me.

Gotta try and get your entry in a little earlier. That way you won't get stuck when the thread is closed.

Good luck in the February competition.

Off to a cracking start this month. As I predicted, IGE has gone for a huge run and is currently up around 65%.

    Go you good thing!

Cheers mate! Up 90.6% now to 30.5c. If it hits 32c that'll be 100%. :xyxthumbs

So we are agreed that the new decade starts in 2021. I'm happy with that :)

I'm referring to the decade of the two thousand and twenties. That began yesterday and will end at midnight on 31 December 2029.

But I agree that this year is the tenth and final year of the decade that began on 1 January 2011.

    Nice one Greg:xyxthumbs

I wonder if we went back over the last 2-3 years and backed everything you've suggested might rise on the various threads with a flat stake and a 25% stop loss …. then held for between 3-12 months, just how we'd be sitting overall;)

    This guy I suspect:p:D

I appreciate the sentiment barney, but I reckon it's more luck than anything else. At the end of the day, you never know what the market is going to do.

I look for two things only:

    1. Movers on volume. If you can identify these and get on early you can go along for the ride.
    2. Announcements that are not fully appreciated by the market. I find this happens a lot with miners. A company will make an announcement that the market doesn't fully grasp the importance or magnitude of at first glance. IGE is an example of this.

Not a complicated methodology, but it works now and again. ;)

Agree 100% …. particularly Volume and particularly at the more Spec end of the market. Its often like solving a puzzle and volume changes nearly always have a story attached (not always a good story of course:eek:)

What no bullet with MYX? Watch it next week when @trav sees the reversal opportunity on his chart.

Note: I'm just playing around here. MYX is not a recommendation.
