I have an etrade account but want to buy some NYSE shares, I know about etrade global shares but its $59 per trade which seems steep. What is the best way forward for me?

Thanks.

Ooo. I'm interested in doing this as well. Would love to know how I can access the best brokerage available to Australian residents.

I suggest you have a look at https://www.optionsxpress.com.au

Every trade cost USD 15.

Hope that helps!
Apparently, optionsXpress have been around for quite some time too. Their website is definitely a good place to find out details of their current offerings.

If you're new to this game, I also suggest you search this Forum for "optionsXpress" and browse the threads that pop up: https://www.aussiestockforums.com/forums/search.php?searchid=1697918
That way, you'll complement marketing speak by a range of experience-based opinions from ASF members.

Just wanted to clarify one thing, all in good spirit, I use their (optionsXpress) services myself.

I am not marketing on their behalf and do not stand to make a single penny from them.

Of course, I second your opinion that OP must do his research.
