    Futures brokers

Does anyone know of a cheap broker for SPI 1-5 contracts. I am looking to just partially hedge my portfolio once every 3 months.

I looked at warrants but they are a rip off. Can't find any options on index. I remember there used to be a cheap/no frills futures broker for SPI and e-mini's but I can't remember their name. Can anyone help here ?

or www.interactivebrokers.com if you can be bothered jumping through a few hoops to use a US broker....but they are the cheapest for SPI.

Then you can join the darkside and play with the US markets ;-)

    Futures Brokers

    Hi All,

Does anyone have any advise or experience with Futures Brokers, i don't quiet understand how it works when an Australian wants to trader the American Market. I have been looking been taking to Halifax Investment Services about trading Emini on the S&P500 and they advised they have 2 brokers to choose from one being Mirus Futures. I don't understand why i should go through Halifax when they will be using Mirus Futures, should i just open an account directly with Mirus Futures?

I want to keep things simple and not have someone relay my messages and have to deal whit 2 accounts in the end. If anyone has any experience with this any advice is greatly appreciated.

Interactive Brokers is one of the cheapest brokers with a good platform for trading index futures, as well as many other instruments.

The following are the more popular brokers
    1. Mirus Futures
    2. Tradestation
    3. IB

I found 1. to be cheapest at $4.4/round turn per contract.

    Hope that helps.

I use 2 brokers, IB for trades i execute myself and MF Global for orders placed with a broker.

If your just starting out then my advise would be go with MFG, you pay a little more but they are very good, IB you really are on your own, also if your wanting to trade USA then the time difference is not good unless your a night owl and online orders placed with IB for futures really need to be monitored and checked IMO, with MFG once your orders are placed they will look after all your instructions.

Looking for an Aussie futures broker to help combat premature ageing :)

    Hi Guys

I looked in the mirror the other day and my Father looked back at me... I'm ageing prematurely because I'm an Aussie who trades US index and currency futures during the US day session.

Having get fed up with the bags under my eyes I've finally decided to make the switch to something more sensible as far as trading hours are concerned.

I am looking for a recommendation for a broker with whom I can day-trade the SPI, mini Nikkei (Singapore), Hang Seng, KOSPI, etc.

I have looked into IB but I would be happier supporting an Aussie broker (and keeping my money closer to home!)

I use Sierra as my charting package, so compatability there would be good but I am not adverse to using a different charting package if needs be.

    Thanks in advance.
    Evs.

Evs you could try MF Global. Apart from that there is a reason why most of us use IB.

G'day TH, glad to make your aquaintance, and thanks for your comment.

I have read a lot of your posts and agree/relate with a lot of what you say so as a fellow futures trader I was going to PM you to ask the same question directly, but there's no need now! Thanks anyway :)

    Cheers,
    Evs.

Are commodities one in the same thing as futures? If not what is the difference? Thanks, novice here...
