Good afternoon everyone and welcome to the February 2019 stock tipping competition entry thread! :)

My apologies for the late start this month but it completely slipped my mind.

The February competition is proudly sponsored by FP Markets, an Australian owned and ASIC regulated broker with over 12 experience and 35 industry awards including Highest Overall Client Satisfaction 5 years running. They facilitate trading in equities, indices, commodities, futures, Forex and Bitcoin via their MetaTrader4 platform.

FP Markets offer 10,000+ equities, indices and commodities across all major international markets. All equity CFDs are DMA priced and 100% hedged. FP Markets are not a market maker so their interests are aligned with that of their clients. You can go long on everything listed on the ASX and international markets and they have the widest short offering of any Australian broker.

A quick recap of the rules for those not familiar with them:

    1. Each entrant may choose one ASX listed stock. Options, warrants and deferred settlement shares are not permitted.

    2. Stocks with a price of less than $0.01 are ineligible for the competition, as are stocks that are currently suspended from trading.

    3. Either before or after posting your entry and before the deadline for entries you must post in the forum thread of the stock you have entered providing either a general update or a view on why you think the share price is going to increase in the short term.

    4. The winner is the entrant whose selected stock performs the best in percentage terms between February 1 and February 28.

    5. The maximum number of entrants in the competition is 100.

The competition winner will receive $100. The second placegetter will win $50 and the third placegetter $25.

You have until midnight on Thursday, January 31 to enter. However, in practice, entries can be submitted until this thread is closed. No entries submitted after that can be accepted for any reason.

Please post your entries in this thread. Remember, once you have selected your stock, you CANNOT change it for any reason.

Best of luck to all entrants! :D

Nah, only started a few days ago and finished after the thread went up, not eternal.

Haha, I was very keen to get it this month and I did think it was funny that I checked the site right at the right time though! When I checked for new posts and saw this thread listed as '1 minute ago' I jumped straight on it! I hope you win this month (I think you probably will), you beat me to it fair and square :)

A minnow, but came off a yearly low at the end of 2018 and is now debt free and a small scale graphite producer. Upside to over 3 cents by mid year, but I am hoping for about a 0.03 increase in price over February.

    FEX - Fenix Resources please.

Great drilling results yesterday and plenty of potential for share price gains here with a market cap of under $4 million.

AMI - AURELIA METALS LIMITED for me. It's a gold stock, already doing well, and in this turbulent market, more people are falling back on gold.

    WEC White Energy, thanks Joe
Tied up in litigation since November 2011 and suffering from court fatigue. High was $4.20 and low 2.8c.
Everything has gone wrong and every move by the directors has not worked out well. Some directors also ended up in court and they could not buy a tenement in Queensland from that outcome.
In and out of Aussie courts and mired in the Arbitration court in Singapore. PT Bayan keep appealing at each stage and even the Arbitrators cant get things right.
Bought coal tenements in the Appalachian region in the states to use their new technology. The blue gem coal was no use and whilst mining they hit unexpected rock.
Coal fines in South Africa went wrong when S32 pulled out from a supply agreement.
They were to supply coal from their Phillipson tenement in Far North South Australia to Southern Power Stations. Unfortunately they don't want coal any more.
A gas from coal plant was to be built in the Phillipson area but was shelved many years ago. Explored for gold and couldn't find any.

The part in the rules I don't yet fully understand is "you must post in the forum thread of the stock you have entered providing either a general update or a view on why you think the share price is going to increase in the short term."

That I have done. I can see why you need to provide your reasoning, but couldn't it just as easily be done in this thread (as opposed to the thread for the stock) when you declare your stock choice here, as so many people have done anyway?
