@Trav...after burning up many hours trying to solve my problem through afl code I managed to resolve it in a way that didn't involve a single line of code :(. To add a little more context to my problem. I'm developing a trading system that uses monthly charts. When running Amibroker's explorer (or backtester) it was always showing the entry and exit dates as the end of the month even though trades were being entered and exited at the beginning of each month. I'm going to prove myself as an idiot here, but under the intraday tab in preferences there's as option to "use last day of trade" for weekly and monthly bars. Well, my Amibroker had this option selected. I unticked this options and guess what, entry and exit dates are now correctly showing as the beginning of the relevant months. Yep, I'm an idiot but in my defense I don't think it's intuitive to look under the intraday tab for weekly and monthly options

haha good work mate, I'm happy that you got it sorted and no doubt put off a couple of chores as well.

I think that we have burned many hours trying to resolve an issue when a easy answer is staring at us all along. I agree that AmiBroker is not intuitive in some areas but I often sit back in awe of the program as I don't think that I will ever utilise 10% of it's capacity.

I'm constantly in awe of just how powerful and flexible Amibroker is. I've been a user for over 5 years and I'm still learning. Tomaz has developed an amazing piece of software. Go the hawks!!!

Hi Trav, thanks for the responses. I did see those posts and I'm not sure those get me what I need, but having said that I'll spend some time today exploring the first link you provided to see if I can get what I need . I'll let you know what I end up with. Thanks again for the responses.
