Thought some might be interested in some photos from inside the Hobart CBD public exclusion zone.
In short, Myer building in Liverpool St is completely destroyed with the remainder being demolished in order to avoid a collapse of the brick facade onto the street.
Cat & Fiddle shops have been flooded with some ceiling collapses etc but Cat & Fiddle itself seems reasonably OK structurally. Burrells has had the ceiling partly collapse into the store.
I'm still amazed that the fire service was able to prevent that fire spreading to the whole block as all those shops are interconnected. A massive blaze that was visible from practically anywhere in Hobart and suburbs.
Somehow it still doesn't seem real even though I've seen it with my own eyes. The $50 million estimated damage is only for Myer - it doesn't include the damage to other shops.
