Recently had my home network wiped out by a phoneline surge
Old system was:
4 XP computers
ISP = Optusnet broadband DSL
Optus -Dlink dsl-302g modem
WTE16608 --4 port Broadband Router
All linked with Ethernet Cables.
Same XP computers
D-Link -- DSL-504T -- combined Router/Modem
Cable Linked -- NAT enabled
The local network works fine
3 computers link to the Internet OK
The 4th and main computer will not link to the internet -- IE reports a possible ports error --- have opened (I think) ports 80 etc --- disabled Firewalls --- still no success.
Will connect to Email.
At the moment am working around it by disconnecting this computer from the local network and using the new modem Optus supplied via USB -- if connected to the local network the USB internet connection for this computer will not work.
This is the Computer that was used to setup the D-Link Router/Modem --- the other three just fell into place.
Any help would be appreciated as it's a real pain in the ar*e
