I make no apologies in starting this thread, as it about cancer of the throat and other problems. Unfortunately, this condition is usually found too late and more than 50% die within 5 years. Dentists are usually the first to spot a problem and should do a thorough check, some don't, and refer patients to Hospital if anything is found.
The following link is the first and is a bit frightening as it shows photographs of more advanced cases and those under treatment. You can undertake a check yourself and remember; " if it's caught early the problem can be treated ", if it's not caught early treatment is difficult, the reason for a high death rate.
I give my warning anyway on this link, that it may be upsetting to some, CONTAINS PHOTOGRAPHS: http://www.entusa.com/oral_photos.htm
