My niece [B. Ed (Hons), 3 years teaching exp.] in Gifted education applies for a job in Gifted & Talented program at a Perth private school (2 available). The advertisment states "must be supportive of the christian ethos". She is not a practising christian, but states in her application that she would be fully supportive of the christian ethos. She finds out one of the teachers who gets one of the positions is a graduate (ie no teaching experience and no G & T background), but is an active christian (don't know about the other candidate). She gets a letter saying she has not been shortlisted for interview.
Now assuming that she was not shortlisted because of her lack of christianity (which is the only thing I can think of). My question: Is this discrimination?
