Although I have never been a regular watcher of the show, when I did I often found it entertaining (maybe I am a bit bias being a POM) I was disappointed to see Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May given the chop by the BBC. The new series (and format) started a fortnight ago but the popularity of it as continued to fall since the first episode. Actually the last episode (No 3) saw live viewership fall to about 2.4 million U.K. viewers. Out of about 170 episodes to date, just one, from June 2003, drew a lower live viewership numbers. I for one thought it was a very good episode (especially compared to the previous two) with more time given to the two newish guys Rory Reid and Chris Harris.
It will be interesting to see (in the coming weeks) if more time is given to Matt LeBlanc and the two new guys and less time given to Chris Evans - some commentators reckon zero time would be even better!! Even his ex-wife TV and radio presenter Carol McGiffin didn't refrain from standing on Evans head (while he is drowning) claiming she'd rather watch repeats of axed host Jeremy Clarkson's Top Gear, ouch.
