Ok we all know that there was a catastrophic accident in Bhopal in Dec 1984 when a Union Carbide plant leaked a huge cloud of toxic gas into the city. Thousands of people died within hours. The death and injury total since then is in the hundreds of thousands.
But how did this disaster happen ? I just saw a documentary called Seconds to Disaster on the ABC which examined the litany of neglect which combined to cause the final catastrophe.
It leaves the final question open; how secure can we feel about the operation of other major industrial plants ?
Have a look at the program and offer your thoughts.
