Today is apparently International Women's Day. Hearing this prompted me to reflect on the changes in attitudes of and towards women in the last 30 or 40 years.
40 years ago, a married woman rarely went out to work after the first child arrived. She accepted without question that it was her role to take responsibility for the smooth running of the household in terms of doing all the housework, all the cooking, washing and ironing, shopping, etc.
Contrast that woman with the woman of today. Hugely different.
I guess what I'm wondering is how much happier today's woman is, with her seemingly obligatory job and aspirations to rise ever upwards in the corporate hierarchy. She doesn't want to care for her own children, says she needs to work in order to have all the extras her family deserves, and yells "sexual assault" if a bloke so much as smiles at her the wrong way in the work place.
Current poll shows we have a predominance of males on ASF so I'm wondering if you blokes would be generous enough to share with us how you view the woman in your life - wife, partner, girlfriend, workmate, housemate, or whatever.
And to the apparently few females, how happy are you with your lot as a woman? Have you achieved true equality with men?
